Lloyd Kelly

Can't get my head around Juve selling us Huijsen because they needed the cash and then spending more on Kelly.....something smells a bit fishy to me.

Lucky he isn't going to Milan or they'd probably ask the jet to turn around in midair and go back to Newcastle after catching sight of what he's wearing!

We get a weekly catwalk from all the injured players in front of the main stand. The WhatsApp group clearly agreed on baggy all beige outfits… felt sorry for Hill though, clearly not in that WhatsApp group as he turned up in black.

One word. Amortisation.

A sale of Huijsen nets them circa 13m profit for this accounting year.

A 20m purchase only costs them 4m for the year. Close to 10m profit between those transactions which is quite big in FFP terms.

It’s a weird and frankly f****d up system but we have been able to benefit from it in this case.

On the face of it, Man City selling Palmer for 40m and then signing Doku for 50 seems absolutely mental too. But a 40m pure profit sale technically gives them scope to spend 200m extra in that accounting year, as when divided down over length of contract 200m worth of purchases equates to 40m (transfer fees can be amortised to a maximum of five years.)

Absolutely unbelievable agent. Flopped here, flopped at Newcastle but still he's managed to swindle juventus into taking him on
Wouldn’t say he flopped here, he was a good championship player and a decent PL squad player for us. His agent is a bloody miracle worker to get him these moves though, realistically his level is as a squad player for a bottom half PL team or as a top championship player.

BBC today.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe on Lloyd Kelly's exit to Juventus: "I don't think it was necessarily my decision to let him leave, very reluctant from our side. Lloyd is a player we just signed, we believe in his qualities. Slightly frustrating he didn't play more, but that's perhaps been down to the form of others. We've had to try and manage PSR and make decisions that benefit us, this is one of those. An exciting opportunity for him."

Does feel a bit like a new Fiat factory might be springing up in Saudi in the near future.
I wonder if Newcastle had something over Juve regarding the Tonali betting thing?.....Newcastle might have let that slide with a long term picture in mind....fascinating to see what clubs will come up with to battle PSR

...terrible how PSR and rules related to it is driving away talent as players become pieces in the chessgame that is business in football.

We will no doubt bank big profits from the sales of Huijsen, Zarbaryni, Kluivert, Semenyo and Kerkez...which will give us stability and keep the PL financial wolves from our doors?

Then in comes more on the treadmill like the guys we have just got in as young hungry, but unproven players.

It is a good model but shame that we probably will never see many staying more than two or three seasons?

Alternatively, it is preventing big clubs from hoovering up all the talent and allowing intelligently run clubs to pick up the guys falling through the cracks and give them first team football before selling them on for a huge profit.
