Manchester City v AFC Bournemouth

“Probably”

As mentioned above, Huddersfield held them to a 0-0 draw last season.

This is football, we might meet them on an off day, who knows.

Just hope our team go into the game with the thought it is 11 v 11 humans and we have a chance. Think Eddie will be getting that message over to them.

Huddersfield drew there a couple of days after they had won the PL, the City players were still peed up and celebrating.

Aymeric Laporte vs. Callum Wilson

Aymeric Laporte’s man-of-the-match display on Tuesday offered further evidence of his rapid development.

He has emerged as one of Europe’s top centre-backs, with his mix of pace, rugged strength and outstanding technical ability combining to make a complete defender.

He’ll face a stern test on Saturday, though. Callum Wilson, who has seven goals this season and recently made his England bow, scoring in the win over USA, is a player of real quality.

Few defenders have an easy afternoon against him. He is quick, strong and has a knack of being in the right place at the right time.

Like Laporte, he relishes a physical battle, and their tussle will be a fascinating subplot to Saturday’s game.

Sergio Aguero vs. Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake is a mainstay of the Bournemouth side.

During his days at Chelsea, he was widely regarded as one of the top young centre-backs in English football, and after enjoying loan spells at Reading, Watford and finally Bournemouth, Eddie Howe decided to make the move permanent. It’s proven a masterstroke.

Not only does he read the game superbly, he is excellent on the ball, making him the perfect fit for Howe's side.

He has been linked with a move to a top six side in recent months, recognition of his consistent form for Bournemouth and Holland.

Sergio Aguero is unlikely to be phased, though, The Argentine is enjoying another brilliant campaign. His goal on Tuesday in Lyon was his 12th of the season in all competitions, a fine return from 17 games.

Few defenders can nullify his threat for 90 minutes.

Leroy Sane vs. Simon Francis

Leroy Sane’s two goals in last weekend’s win at West Ham were a sign he is returning to his very best. He gave former Blue Pablo Zabaleta a difficult afternoon, and he'll fancy his chances of repeating the trick on Saturday when he comes up against Simon Francis.

Francis, 33, has been a key figure for Bournemouth in their rise from League One to top half of the Premier League. A true pro, his place in Bournemouth's history is secure.

But Sane is one of the quickest and most skilful players in the Premier League, and when he's on his game, which he was last weekend, he makes City sing.

Pep Guardiola vs. Eddie Howe

There are similarities between the two managers going head-to-head this weekend.

Howe, like Guardiola, values the aesthetics of the game. He wants to see his Bournemouth side pass from the back, move the ball quickly through the lines and generally play an open, attacking brand of football

Both managers see that approach not as secondary to the result, but as the key to them. Adhere to their principles and play the game in the right way, the results will follow.

It should make for an entertaining afternoon at the Etihad.

Really looking forward to seeing how the lads fare against City. Plenty of interesting duels across the pitch. If we can keep it to 0-0 until say 30 mins, who knows? We’ve got pace to burn, catch them on the break, the move which to King’s goal against Arsenal was breathtaking. More please!

COWS - Eddie

Saturday’s opponents are the only team in the Premier League the Cherries have not taken points from, but talking of his tactical approach for the match away at the champions Howe explained that he is looking forward to the challenge.

“Let’s wait and see,” he said. “We like to think we’re adaptable and can make changes when necessary. We treat each game individually so we’ll try to come up with a plan that nullifies Man City’s strengths as best as we can while still maintaining a threat.

“We know it will be hard and City are the side we’ve struggled the most against, but I see the game more as a positive challenge than a negative one.”

I'm looking at this match as a free hit. We get something great but I have zero expectation of anything.

I think fans from every team visiting City will feel the same. Let's get it out of the way and concentrate on Huddersfield.

Can't help thinking that if by a minor/major miracle we beat City we would only then lose to the terriers.

If there’s one player who seems hell-bent on ensuring Bournemouth get nothing when they play City, it’s Raheem Sterling.

The England forward has a phenomenal record against the Cherries - so much so, the south coast side could be forgiven for hoping Pep Guardiola gives the 23-year-old a rest this Saturday.

It’s a fact that some players just seem to enjoy playing against certain teams more than others – there’s no obvious reason, but it happens regularly in football.

Sergio Aguero loves playing Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool (the latter at home), while David Silva regularly finds the net against West Ham and so on.

Bournemouth have lost three games on the bounce and a trip to Etihad Stadium is the last thing you need when you are trying to find some form.

At least it will be out of the way after this weekend, though. That is the way a lot of teams will view this fixture because they will not expect to get anything out of it.

Prediction: 3-0
