There is no such thing as a manager improving a player..that's largely bullsh*t..the player improves himself...the manager can 'tell him' to improve.
Then the player either goes about it or he doesn't...and maybe falls out of favour with said manager. It happens all the time.
Think....if the manager say, was a defender in his playing days....how the f√ck is he going to improve a winger or goalkeeper Mmm...mmm ?

point number 2390 of showing you have no clue

And yet you toss yourself off over Brian Clough. Hypocrite.

In one of his autobiographies, Clough claimed that if a team went onto the pitch all feeling ten feet tall they'd win more games than they lost no matter how useless they were.

Scott Parker spent days telling every media outlet that would listen that his players weren't good enough and they immediately lost 9-0.

Clough was a very good football manager and man manager with some idea how people tick. Not sure that's true of Parker.

Clough was somewhat of a bully with mad brain methods but it worked...he wasn't so much an expert coach as he was a motivator strong on psychology which he imparted upon players.

Oh sorry he was successful with Forest...a currently taboo subject with Cherries fans .

Nice deflection. After contradicting your original point.

Forest aren't taboo with me. We recently spanked them 5-0. tbh, I'm struggling to recall the last time they beat us.

I'll take the bait... you don't think your beloved Brian Clough didn't improve any of his players in your beloved Notts Forest team?
Yes he did....he bullied them into improving themselves. Coaching was minimal from him...and only relevant to forwards....he wasn't a defender ..he was a centre - forward as a player.
His assistant Taylor had been a Goalkeeper - he coached the defence.

Now I know what AFC actually means.
