Never Tear Us Apart - message from the club?

Been thinking about the best "anthem" for us. I think what would fit well is Ain't no stopping us now by McFadden & Whitehead. It's very upbeat (unlike never tear us apart) & the lyrics are right up our street!
Definitely worth throwing into the mix in my opinion!!

On Saturday the crowd singing Mull of Kintyre (I really can't believe a Beatle wrote that) really lifted the crowd at kick off. If Jim and his pets from the FAB were there take note not the song but how it is done with everybody joing in unlike our dreadful choice foisted upon us.

Have you messaged them to let you know your issues with this? If not, I will happily pass on your sentiments. As ever, it will require people to go to them rather than the hope that one of them reads the forums.

The team my dad supported was Charlton and they also have their own version of that song, only it is called Valley Floyd Road.

The club are aware Sam. The question over Red Army which was unique to us and lifted the whole ground also remains unanswered.

Could almost hear the left side of the north standing singing “flying high”. Decent effort.
I dunno, the club is trying things to improve our dire home atmosphere. Would be good to see people at least give it a go. Feels a bit petty trying to drown it out, it's not like this ownership hasn't already done wonders for the club and I feel they are trying this for the right reasons.

I’d rather hear the fans sing and generate an atmosphere than songs over a tannoy.

If people were singing the “anthem” I wouldn’t be hearing the left side of the north stand singing something else. :)

I like the visual of the “anthem”, if everyone got on board with it and sung it, maybe I’d like it. Until then though it’s just meh.

But if we don’t try anything for longer than a few matches, nothing will stick. To me, at least it's relatively unique to us. Of course banging out pure cheese like sweet caroline or freed from desire will get people clapping along sooner, but then we're just the same as about 89 of the 92 clubs in the 4 leagues. When you watch INXS pre match in the Aussie rules it looks epic, but it'll take time to catch on (and maybe it never will).

Having said all that, if this is what it takes to get our crowd singing anything before kick off, even red flag to drown it out, it's an improvement on what went before.
