Non - Ham Common Lake?

The last time we went there, the path from the cliff top car park down to the lower car park by the pier passed by the lake.

Today we followed the path, but for some reason we couldn’t get near the lake, but could see it through the bushes and trees. Those that know the area have they let it over grow so not easily to access?

No sign of the white eagles or any other birds of interest, except the usual gulls.

I clicked on this thinking it might be transfer speculation.

I blame Ben Gannon-Doak !

Must be about a year since I’ve been Bill so maybe not much help, but I do remember even then I don't think there was a direct path opening on to the lake- seem to recall it was off-path. And only a couple of Coot in there when I eventually got lakeside.

Not a regular ‘haunt’ of yours then Rob for white eagle etc spotting?

The easiest way to access the lake is take the path from Napier Road just outside the caravan park.

Or you could go up to the view point and take the steps down to the main path and go left.

Both routes get you to the other side of the lake rather than where you’d come out if parking at the pier.

We came down the entrance from the view point car park onto the main path, but they were not steps, turned left and followed it until it met a cross path which probably came from Rockley Park.

Then turned right on that path and followed it and it eventually led to the lower car park by the pier.

In the past remember the path being wet clay at times and you came upon the sea side side of the lake.

So I take it you are talking about getting to the other side of the lake.

So not sure where we went wrong, could see the lake through trees and bushes and entrances that had been overgrown.

Anyway thanks for the reply Dave.
