Non-Jordan Henderson VAR

Just watched remains of BBC's final score..Interviews with managers over disputed penalty Brighton v Liverpool, then Jordan Henderson asked (in a nutshell) "do players want to scrap Var," answered "Yes ,players don't know what's going on ,the rules keep changing"

Don't know how to do links ,perhaps someone more tech savvie could oblige?

No sympathy. Players all wanted it and made it inevitable by cheating & pressuring refs.

Worst thing ever to happen to the game. Sucks all of the joy (yes, and despair) out of the game from the supporters point of view. Wrecks the “Matchday Experience”. What is the point of leaping up and down to celebrate a seemingly great goal when you know it will probably be disallowed because of an errant toenail? Scrap it, just scrap it!

One of the real joys of this Championship season. The call is the call. I actually thought the pen on Dom today was very soft, and VAR might have reversed it. There were also calls in the earlier game that definitely would have been reviewed, especially two flagrant fouls by BC that would have had them finishing with 9 players.

The absence of VAR is a much better experience ..... no question. But how does football unring that bell?

No it is VAR.

VAR has taken every rule to its logical extreme. Pretty sure the offside rule wasn’t implemented so that we could frame by frame draw a line, and see if the wingers ballsack is dangling just past the pixels.

Pretty sure the handball rule isn’t there so that we can watch attackers booting the ball at defenders from a half a foot away and hitting their pinky, or disallowing goals that delicately brush the shoulder.

Football is a chaotic, often low scoring game- putting these sometimes very rare, key moments through a technological hell completely ruins the sport. It’s alright in something like tennis, but not here.

VAR was brought in to protect the PL 's biggest clubs, to ensure they remained successful, and to protect the league big earning players . Unfortunately mix VAR with the PL, the FA and the dire officials in the PMOL and you get the farce that we currently have. It's killing the game, made a mockery of the PL and turned the sport into a pantomime that will eventually turn off TV's and become less marketable around the world. Trust the FA to f@ck up something that could have actually been successful if used correctly.
Constant tinkering is making it a farce. How can Adam Smiths shoulder be a penalty last season yet a ball to hand be acceptable this. The FA are playing with the livelihood of clubs.

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure they changed it halfway through this season as well, so it’s even worse. Some teams have already benefited from this nonsense rule.

You drive through a neighborhood for years. Suddenly, for a month, the speed limit is lowered. A month later, it is increased beyond the original speed. A few weeks later, lowered again.
Add to that, the cops are usually lenient if you are 5-10 km/h over the limit. Suddenly, they crack down to the exact number. A little while later, they allow you to go 25 km/h over the limit without penalty.

And there you have the actions of the FA, PL, and PMGOL in a nutshell.

It’s only when the big teams get hard done by there is a massive fuss or it involves one them

The rest of us would be told to just get on with it.

System is too subjective and no one really complains about offside goals unless it’s really clear cut and missed .

Handballs will always be a lottery a based on judgment.

the core problem (that bought in var) was the intolerance of modern day footy fans to accept the refs decision, whether its right or wrong. your ideas would do little to appease them I suspect. they'd still bay for "justice" wouldnt they?

The problem with say a 30cm tolerance for offside is then they'll spend 5 mins deciding if it's 29.9 or 31.1 cm offside and it's not that accurate in the first place. And if they make it 'clear and obvious' you can guarantee that Liverpool will get more of those decisions than Fulham.
Bin the while thing off
