Non - Pandemic

The risks of thrombosis for women taking the contraceptive pill is “far greater” than those from very rare blood clots linked to the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab, a leading vaccine expert said today.

Professor Adam Finn, who sits on the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, also stressed the need for people to continue getting the vaccine to counter the threat of another “major” coronavirus wave hitting Britain and claiming many lives.

Social media has been rife with people worrying about the vaccine and the confirmation of 'very rare side effects', but there have also been women shouting up about their experiences.

One user replied to InYourArea audience editor Laura Hartley - who is one of the women taking Yasmin - and said their own pill (Levest) had a seven in 10,000 risk of blood clots.

Labour MP Jess Phillips tweeted to say she had actually suffered a blood clot, and we need to take note of how rare this new vaccine information is.

Australia’s vaccine rollout has suffered a major shock, with an advisory slapped on the AstraZeneca vaccine warning people under 50 it may cause extremely rare but potentially deadly blood clots.

On Thursday evening, the Australian government announced it had accepted expert advice that Pfizer should now be the preferred vaccine for under 50s, who will be warned AstraZeneca should only be taken if it is clear the benefits outweigh the risks.
The bit about risks being the crucial element. In the UK, the risks of not injecting under-30s with AZ are small, because on the current timetable we should be able to inject them with something else instead without much delay in the programme.

In Australia, as long as their strict quarantine keeps coronavirus out, their vaccine programme will be delayed but not at the result of extra deaths. Their risks are economic and emotional in that their isolation will have to continue for longer.

It's Europe and the rest of the world where the risks are really terrible. In France, deaths are running at 1,500 per week and Germany 1,000 per week. If they choose to delay vaccination, their risks are measured in human lives, and large numbers of them. Which is why they probably should decide to go ahead and jab the young with AZ asap and take the chances, while Australia and the UK have more reason to stop jabbing with AZ.

I had my second jab today. I offered my card up for completion with details of the second jab instead I was given a new one, with no name on it, preprinted with the details of the batch etc. I was told I could transfer the details from the old card. Now I have 2 self completed cards. Over to you Boris and Matt.

From what I have read it doesn’t seem Matt Hancock agrees.
The definition of herd immunity depends on a number of factors and the level of "safe people" is different for different virus's.
Best estimates for COVID seem to be between 70 and 80% of people either vaccinated or with natural antibodies through having already had the disease or being immune.
Based on 31.5 million in the UK having had the first jab and 4.5 million at least (probably way more than that when you think back to lack of testing in March/April last year) having had the disease then we are not far off herd immunity. Still let Hancock carry on trying to scare us.

You may aswell have bent down and let them insert a GPS into your anus.
So what card did you offer them? The free will card or the card that says you've been given an experimental jab that will defeat COVID even though you can't defeat COVID because it's part of the umbrella of the Flu which will never disappear because it's been here thousands of years.

You forgot the bit about the tracking data being collected for our Lizard overlords.

I was believing it until you missed that bit.

I didn't get a card from my jab. I think they're meaningless.

I hope you check under your bed every night before you get in. I heard Bill Gates has been texting aliens on his 5G phone under there.

Ron, have you have any side effects from the second jab and was it the AZ one?

I think its only right the risks should be explained before having the vaccine.
I can remember being told the risks when I had heart surgery and had to sign a consenting form. 5% chance of not surviving the op.
I still went ahead with it and am still here today.
You take your chances.
Indeed- I went through the same three years ago - although I had no choice as I had to be operated on regardless ....still signed the form and trusted in the surgeon and his team’s professionalism and fortunately I came through it ...living with risk for the rest of my natural but such is the hand dealt ...
