Non - The Most "Political" Acts/Bands

Fans' Favourite
With all the political stuff regularly on here, enhanced by the "Can this Bloke become President" thread, and with my natural bent to music, got me thinking about the most political acts.

I am sure the list will be large, but some of the ones that came to mind:

Pete Seegar
Sinead O'Connor
Little Steven from 1985-1990. Great music, but every release had a political message, biggest one being Sun City
Housemartins? I really liked the music but it took me ages to understand the messages
Bob Dylan in his early days
Joan Baez
Indigo Girls
The Clash
Sex Pistols

In researching this, I came across Algiers. We have a resident authority.

Certainly we need some black groups, my knowledge is limited I must confess. During the Civil Rights activities of the 60's, many black artists sang political messages ("What's Going On" was one of the best, but I really don't think of Marvin as overtly political. Belafonte was an amazing activist, but not really as a recording artist).

Lots more, but over to you guys to flesh out the list.

Public Enemy would fit the bill for black groups that are heavily political.

Local Wimborne bloke done good….Billy fookin Bragg .

The Jam .. great tunes sh*t lyrics .
Met Billy Bragg a couple of years ago. Had a lovely chat.
Born in Essex, lives at Burton Bradstock on the Dorset coast near Bridport.

Often accused of sending his kids to a private school, but I remember playing Talking with the Taxman about poetry on a loop for weeks as a youth.
