Non-Wildlife

At least it's a Sparrowhawk doing what Sparrowhawks are supposed to do. The other day one of my Westies got one in the garden - pretty unpleasant to clean up the carnage and I'm feeling guilty now. Waiting for the karma to catch up with me!
Blimey. A brave dog to be taking on a Hawk. Must be getting excited about spring on its way

Alligators everywhere, turtles, tortoises, terrapins, snakes and as for the bird life the number of species is staggering. South west Florida state parks and wildlife reserves (often free to visit and very few people about), not a theme park in sight. Hope to see manatees in the next day or so. Gas $3.69 a US gallon. Give the boys a shout for me tomorrow.

Some great spots if you can get down to the Keys. 7-mile bridge sunsets are amazing, nice mix of towns, beaches and backcountry, great food, and Key West is a world of its own.

Happy travels.

Just bumping the Wildlife thread. Spring is springing in Dorset! Saw our first butterflies today- a Brimstone, a Peacock and a Red Admiral. Still waiting for the Wheaters to turn up at Stanpit but a trip out near Avon Causeway this morning gave us five or six Brown Hares frolicking and two Red Kite hunting overhead- a spectacular sight.

Friday night football allows for a nice Saturday lunchtime stroll down Portman zig-zag to the prom, then back through Fishermans Walk.

En route, an Angle Shades moth and a common lizard. They definitely are common, we photoed 5 posing/basking and two ran away.

My favourite shot from Paynes Prairie during my trip to Florida. Reminds me I need a dentist appointment. A surprise at the same place was Bison, reintroduced to Florida in the 70's. Also a few piles of bear poo but not the perpetrator, but yes bears do sh't in the woods.
