Non - Winter Shortages

no, he's too busy plotting for the ira
Talking to the enemy... even Margaret Thatcher had to open channels to speak to the IRA. John Major then made it more formal with Tony Blair then able to create the Good Friday Agreement.
(Everyone is allowed an opinion, no matter how controversial: although putting Waz on Ignore does make this forum a more pleasant place)

You can support a cause and still be against the violent elements. Palestine? Tibet? Wessex?

Has he made up his mind yet whether he's for or against brexit?
For it one day
Does a u turn next day
Repeat daily or weekly as required

Suddenly becomes electable as enough of the people are fooled enough of the time

However the reality is that the current pm and his government are in power and the buck stays stopped with them.

Yes and calling people fools because they voted for them isn't going to do anything to help get them out.

It’s clearly a problem exacerbated by Brexit. Only those blinded by jingoism could claim otherwise.
It’s going well isn’t it?
I know several HGV qualified drivers who will never go back to the industry after being poorly treated and paid for years, even decades.

You may think it’s positive but the RHA don’t. They are pleading with the government to give visas to EU drivers to help get us out of this mess. Truck driving is almost as unglamorous as fruit & veg picking and whatever the wages are, it’s going to be a huge task to recruit enough drivers from the UK alone.
How about trying to convince the qualified drivers we have here already to return to the industry?

Government about to authorise visas for EU drivers. We're not much good at taking back control, are we?

This is precisely what control over immigration looks like isn't it? Tbh I don't think it will work - they need to pay more to entice them. Half of them already have the right to work here yet have stayed at home since they returned due to Covid. They've not gone back to Ireland since Covid either and thats obviously not due to lack of visas.

What happens when the farmers say that if you can do it for truck drivers, you can do it for us. Issue visas for fruit and veg pickers. Then the care industry will demand the same, and the leisure industry, and the construction industry. We can have all our EU workers back as if Brexit never happened.
