Parking

I've reluctantly decided to give public transport a try this season. tbh not too difficult to get to Dean Court from Westbourne but think getting backmay be more difficult. No extra buses laid on, so abit of a scrumptious if lots of others doing as encouraged. Contrast when went to Utrecht game last year. After game, 20 bendy buses lined up to get fans back to city centre. Free plus disco lights and Dutch 'oompha' music to cheer fans on their way. They won 4 0 so happy day forall!

Yes I understand that, but the reality is the days of free parking close to the ground are over, so its either pay the parking cost, or walk/bus/train it. Isn't that basically what the council want, more people on public transport?
Councils and Governments want to take away your choice of free will.

So yes, that does amount to tempting people in to the alternative (public transport), whilst heavily penalising those who don't conform, through a parking tax.

If you have enough money you can do want you want.

By design, most people don't have enough money to choose, therefore they should/must conform.

As every day passes the masses get shafted.

I'm in your position and similar route. Yes I'd like to see more serviecs laid on, maybe not this year but certainly next. If BCP and More can work that out for entire Airshow weekends (back when they were BCP agreeable) then they can probably work that for a period fortnightly. And maybe matchday tickets to cover bus travel. Disco lights optional.

Yes it's easy, there are various options and ways to cut it. If the worst of it is getting on slightly earlier and then later services, maybe have a pint, it's not exactly a chore.

Well just park is private households selling their drive for match days. The prices have clearly gone higher, as they realise there's more money to be made. That's not councils or governments, its profiteering

Don't panic

Elon Musk has this sorted.

Self driving cars will pick you up AND drop you off to the game.

When the game has finished the car will find you and drive you home whilst you are drunk.

****Elon Musk, promising everything and delivering nothing with Tesla, since 2015***
Yeah but he built that Martian City didn’t he ?

Look - the Stadium expansion only happens with the CPZ - it’s happening so complaining about it makes no difference now. It’s not the Councils fault for following policy, the Club’s fault or our fault - it’s just the way it is. I’m hearing a lot of ‘I can’t’ ‘what am I supposed to do’ ‘ why can’t the Club’ etc.
No one suggested the changes won’t be inconvenient to many or that there won’t be added costs and certainly no mention of buses to every hamlet where a cherries fan lives.
We have to adapt and I did my adapting several years ago. It’s not much fun driving round looking for a parking space so look at your other options and don’t expect others to sort it out for you. The best advice I can give is stop seeing the journey as one seamless trip. Drive to a station or bus stop and park there - park further from the ground and walk or bus in. Use the Sovereign Centre - get there early and use Avonbourne etc etc
I’ve got to admit I’m disappointed that some fans either want someone to sort their travel plans for them or simply ensure that they can still park and have a 5 minute walk. Thank heavens we didn’t build a new Stadium out of Town !!!

This sums it up for me. Disability parking issues aside, which could do with improvements by the looks of it, people need to sort out getting to the ground for themselves. Here's the new situation - just get on with it.

Whilst I agree with your general point BFC1, it is also true that evening matches and - to a lesser extent - matches on a Sunday pose bigger challenges for the use of public transport. That’s where I’d like to see the Transport Planning Group (or whatever it’s called) focus its early work.

My understanding is the CPZ hasn’t been implemented yet. Does anyone know when it will start? I’m assuming at some point during this season.

Agreed re disabled fans and supporters with limited mobility.
The more able bodied fans who find other options - the more options there will be for those who don’t have those same chances.
I think in some ways the gradual increase in seats over the next 12 months will help in allowing problems to be seen and addressed as we go. This season will be ‘bitty’ and especially so when the rear of the new South Stand is opened.

There has to be a public consultation before one or more Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) can be introduced. Then a period for implementation: signage, road marking, issuing residents’ permits etc. I’d be very surprised if that all gets done this season.

I agree - that’s what the new Transport Group is designed for.
Re evening matches - it could be that routines for them might need to change from day time kick offs but there are still some really good bus services that run later and that applies to Sundays too, it might mean driving to a stop somewhere along one of those better served routes rather than go to the nearest bus stop.
I transitioned to a ‘bus motorist’ two or three years ago - and not just for football.
Those who haven’t travelled by bus for years might be pleasantly surprised at the services.
I’m sure where extra needs are identified that more buses and trains will be provided.

A bit of an arrogant post tbh. I dont care if your disappointed. I dont live in Bournemouth. I only visit Bournemouth 19 times a year, possibly more when we give a sh1t about the cups, and live in an area where public transport is non existent. I dont mind walking if I can no longer park in the area I've parked for decades but don't have a good enough knowledge of the area to A/ know where the parking exclusion zone ends or B/ know where to park without worrying whether my van is being done over. My nearest tra

The parking exclusion zones haven’t been set yet. There was a proposed map but nothing confirmed.

The point you glaringly fail to see is there is not the capacity on the roads to allow for everyone of the 11,000 to simply drive to the ground from a few miles away and then park within a 10 minute walk.

Probably discussed already and if so I've missed it so apologies for that but I'm reading from the club's recent email that there are now parking restrictions around the club on certain roads, that BCP will be enforcing on match days. Now whilst for some public transport, walking or even cycling may be a viable option, there are those who don't have any of those options and therefore have to drive. The bus from my village takes 2 hours to get to Poole alone, there is no train station, if i walked id have to leave home on friday morning and I don't own any neon coloured lycra. Parking spaces at the car park by the ground are apparently being offered at £475 for the season which is limited and there are a few carpark options within a 10-15 minute walk depending on your speed of walking. I tend to amble so make that 25 mins for people like me. For as long as I can remember I have parked around Queens Park in various streets but these are , apparently, no parking zones during matches. Can anyone confirm this please? Also no mention of motorbikes. Are these able to carry on parking by the stadium? To be honest the whole parking thing seems OTT to me as we haven't suddenly got ourselves a ' super stadium ' with a hugely increased capacity. We're looking at a few hundred extra seats so why all this anti parking cr4p from our anti driving BCP council. Ah,.........
I live in Boscombe, you can park on my drive for £20 :grinning:
