Parking

Can anyone help with this please? What's the deal with parking in the areas highlighted in my picture. I always see cars parked here between the road and the houses on match days, seemingly without causing any grief. My son got a ticket at the Liverpool game. No signage anywhere.View attachment 22726

They are almost all access to the parking for the houses and flats. You're asking for trouble parking there.

The proposed CPZ will make things worse rather than better though. The area where they are proposing to ban parking on match days has always had football parking, the expansion of the stadium would not create a new problem for these residents, the area also in the main consists of large detached houses that have their own off road parking. Preventing match day parking in these areas will displace the majority of the cars that used to park here to areas just outside the CPZ zone, this will impact streets in Charminster, Pokesdown and Springbourne that don't have off road parking.

I'm not personally affected by this as I walk to matches but just see no sense in it.
we just want parking on one side of the road, like we used to have until a wise Cherry got it scrapped! :) so the CPZ will be 1 km radius which I don't think will cover all the area you are thinking. It's all fun though :)

If there are double yellows then that bit on the pavement will be enforceable. Whilst lots of people think it's okay to park on a pavement the road restrictions apply up to property line.

They may count as grass verges , which is I think possibly a bye--law.Several years ago the verge on the opposite side of the dualcarriage by the fitness first was used for parking matchdays ,wardens had a field day(s) .Where I live restrictions have been in force for decades (£20 fine in the 70/80s , still £20 today). The signs (little thingsnot much bigger than a brick stating 'No parking on grass verge") have seen better days and most seem to ignore them (see Montgomery Avenue and surrounding roads)

I got a ticket there. Was told that road markings e.g. double yellow lines, apply to the road AND adjacent off road areas (pavements and verges)

Saying i wasn't on the road didnt save me.

I even went as far as checking each end of the double yellow lines were correctly terminated with a yellow line. Have had tickets rescinded a few times where new tarmac has been laid covering part of a double yellow.

Not only the ends have to be solid but the entirety of the length of yellow lines have to be solid.Ever since I saw a programme on this I've been going around pointing out illegal lines ( mainly to myself, sadly.)Just a couple of weeks ago the ohec showed a pic of ticketed cars on the clifftop, except the yellows were in very poor condition with just blobs of yellow paint separated by huge gaps.Totally unenfoceable.

What’s it like parking at Avonbourne school? Might have to use that for the Villa cup game. Does it tend to fill up quite early?

Yes it does, we've only been parking there this season. We get there as early as we can, sit there for 30 minutes and it looks like it fills up quite quickly : )
