Press trying to ramp up the pressure

From the BBC site, and also reported on Talkshite:

Responding to rumours he had been asked to step down as manager, he replied: "No, there's no truth in that."

For "rumours", I'm guessing we should read "some idiot on Twatter making stuff up"

Standard question for a manager of a team in a relegation position, the opposite of how do you feel about being linked with vacancy at .....

You don’t get asked to step down either.... I speak from past career experience :grinning:

You are normally sat opposite a smiling assassin holding a brown envelope. You then plan on making that persons life a nightmare for the next four weeks until you settle.

Eddie will never have been asked to step down

No there was a different voice who started off. Very negative in his line of questioning. Someone else had a shot then, I think that was Mark Macadam, then someone at the end asked Eddie if he had been asked to resign to which Eddie answered No.

Ah, the 'if it didn't happen to me it doesn't happen' argument :slap:

There are many ways of 'leaving', and employers can be especially ingenious in global industries where employees can have huge public profiles.

I once worked with someone who got caught stealing their colleague's credit cards and going on a six month spending spree. They were convicted in court - a non custodial, first offence, sentence - but, rather than get the sack they were 'invited to resign'. The company tried to minimise further 'publicity' and it worked.

I've 'helped people leave' - due to disciplinary issues, persistent sickness absence (skiving), redundancies, etc - and each case is different. Some resign during the process, others string it out.

In some industries you'll be called into an office, told your time is up, and then be escorted from the building. That's how I'd sack you. Who wants you hanging around, rattling on and being pain in the **************** for four weeks?! ;)

Just to echo Neil. How the hell do you ask someone to resign ? Who are these people asking these questions? What were they expecting Eddie to say ? Yes! But I told Max to do one .

You don’t rattle on, you just pull a few skeletons out of cupboards, leave your solicitor to it while you water ski in Mexico and leave with a much fatter deal and a non disclosure statement.

Just watched the interview on COWS with Eddie and I thought it was a very good one.

Questions were asked like they have been on this forum around certain things relating to our team.

He was asked about our style of play when we first came up from the Championship, then last season up to the present.

Question was put re the crowd reaction at the end of the Watford game, his reply was basically he agreed with the fans and would have joined in. He wasn’t happy and neither were our players in their performance in that game.

It is a 14 minute interview but very well worth listening to, as usual Eddie was very honest with his answers, including his reply is there any truth you were asked to step down, no came the reply.

The best reaction for the crowd at the Watford game should have been Very Loud Positive Chanting for the full 90 mins...making the players aware of the unflagging support....then at the end with the result still at 0-3 ..a Complete Silence...no Boos, no clapping, no insults...nothing!
The Contrast will have an effect far more than anything else!

Not helped by idiots like broadcaster Dom Baker (a Watford fan) who has labeled Eddie an 'absolute fraud'.

I have to say that elements of the media are really starting to pi$$ me off with their character assassinations of Eddie in terms of how Eddie has set himself up as something different, the antidote to the norm (i.e. from plucky upstarts going from exciting/creative football to mediocre Prem football; being touted as the next England manager; his quiet and articulate persona etc., etc.,) and jumping on his/our current plight.

The reality is that Eddie has just been Eddie. He doesn't big himself up and nor does he/the club. It's the media who have built him up and who have eulogized him and now they are turning on him. Disgraceful, but then that's the media today.

Eddie certainly came across well in the pre-match press conference. All his replies to the questions were sensible and honest. He mentioned consistency and that's what we need to turn into positive instead of the current negative. Starting tomorrow at Carrow Road!

These Dorks Writing this Stuff:

They were never staring at a blank sheet of paper were they ?:.. Still only 11,000 capacity after 5 years since Accession to the PL....11,000 !!! lower than many L2 sides similar to some National League grounds......endless speculation about Eddie to Arsenal, Everton..or England!
All the Press and other media Dorks needed was for us to stop scoring goals and slip into 18th ...and Eddie Gets it both barrels!
All this running parallel to a yearning for us to be replaced by Sheffield Someday or Leeds Oneday.. bigger audiences and targets for their stories.
We place Achievers on pedestals in this country, allow em a short period of glory.. then tear em down....
Boscombe had to leave Tinpot behind!
...The club Off- field had to match On- field at some point ....Eddie has done His stuff.

Pity that stuff is being undone by a lack of Organisation by the Chairman in cohesion with the Owner....and the effing Councils and Businesses in the area in Bournemouth, Poole, X- church, Mudeford, Barton on Sea, Highcliffe, Wareham, Hamworthy, Parkstone, Ringwood, Rural Hants and Dorset , Blandford Beer People, Sunseeker ! Vision !
If you start Bowling Balls you keep Bowling Em!

A Lack of Ambition filters down...Apathy sets in! Players switch off!
The Dork will sniff it out.

I could have written the Sh#t myself.....as could any of the Forum!

Media vultures hovering around the club hoping to pick meat off the bones. Anything to do with Manchester Utd , Liverpool, Man City and the press melt like a teenage girl at boyband concert. How they reacted over Ole and Arteta. How they created the term ' kloppage time' with one hand down their trousers and Pep. King Pep and the world's most famous cardigan. FFS !! Yet how they stick the pins in the dolls for everyone else. Just waiting in the wings and sticking in the knife when they sense the opportunity of unrest or failure. Well, **************** 'em. **************** the lot of 'em. One thing the press dont understand is the relationship between Eddie, the club and the supporters and whilst other clubs fans would be clambering at their club's walls with anger in their eyes and spit in their words at the possibility of relegation , we, the fans of AFCB , the true fans of AFCB would follow Eddie to depths of football and still support him. The man is cherished here, a legend , a hero , a leader, a talisman. **************** the press, let's stick two fingers up to the glitteratti that have been waiting for us to fall and tomorrow let our red and black army plunder the Canaries, " let's be 'aving 'em", and let's start our fight to prove the doubters and the wordsmiths of her majesty's press wrong and show them for the imbeciles they are !!
C'mooooonnnnnn!!
