QPR The Verdict.

I thought we played some of our better football of the year first half. Should have been up 2-0. Then Mepham. Team showed character to come back and even the score, then the collapse.

It doesn't matter how talented your team is if you don't have a legitimate striking option. Long is a striker who specialises in not scoring. Neither Dom or Sam are proven at this level. It seems Glen Murray had been available. Why isn't he here?

Now to wait for management to pull the trigger on what I feel will likely be a disaster that will quickly set our club back to the lower divisions and riddle us with debt. Hope I'm wrong. Grateful to both JT and JW for giving their all to the job this year. When Eddie walked it was a sign.

When does Blake get held responsible for his incompetence? When he's on manager 4, 5 or 6? Or when we're passing the bucket again to avoid insolvency?

Looking back in hindsight, I believe EH walked away from the club because he no longer believed in the technical skill or quality of his squad of players to get back up in the EPL. Whoever is appointed as the new manager will have an unenviable job on their hands to motivate and coach the current squad into playing fast attractive creative football.

I don't know when the rot set in but..........When Eddie and Jason started they had a set formation, style of play and because of that could get the best out of their players. Everyone appeared convinced no matter the opposition, we could outscore them, sometimes we won against all expectations, sometimes we were thumped. I always thought the team tried their hardest and gave their all to the cause.

Then we started " matching up" the opposition, especially lesser teams we knew we could outscore. With this came the "Possession is King" philosophy, if we've got the ball they can't score. This translated 3-2 wins, 2-2 draws, 3-2 defeats gradually to 1-0 wins, 1-1 or 0-0 draws and 1-0 defeats. Then the 1-0 wins became 2-0 defeats to teams not any better than us.

The result is what we've seen most of the season, players coming in and out regardless of form, fitness or mettle. Formations changed to match up and nullify teams . The message is " you're all classy talented players but we're not sure you're good enough to beat Q.P.R. ( or any number of mediocre Championship teams ) comfortably." Be free flowing, risk taking and adventurous but above all be very, very careful.

They've fallen between 2 stools, we need a manager who can reach down, pull them up and convince them they are good enough to get on the Premier League Pedestal.

Good post, sums up exactly how I feel.

I disagree with that,I think the reason he walked was that Max was not going to give any more money for players, and also that Franno,Surman ,Pugh and Daniels were to be released.

Rightly or not I'd have preferred Surridge up front instead of Long. I know Long scored but it was a goal most could poke over the line. His first goal for a long time (Pun intended). Too many players not putting in any real effort makes me feel they should give some fringe players a bit of time on the pitch. It might work.

Think Mepham mistake demonstrated that all the players lack the ability to concentrate for the whole match
I mean come on really was it necessary to pass the ball across the box without looking
None of the players seem to be capable of doing their job but obviously believe they are world beaters
The problem is are they being indulged by the club or the manager as to me no one seems to be taking control
We seem to be heading one way at the moment and it’s certainly not back to the top table

Not sure if it's been mentioned.... but JW must take some of the blame for breaking up the CCV and Kelly partnership in the back middle......they were playing well together with 2 clean sheets in their games together. Should of stuck with the back 4 that played against Rotherham. There is never a settled side, with the excuse of having to rotate because 2 games a week.

Woodgate likes to play a back 3... It was only a matter of time before we moved back to this...

We’ve always dipped in creativity this season when we’ve played this formation. For me, whilst we played some nice football yesterday at times, Woodgate undid a lot of his hard work over the last few weeks by playing a formation and team that was never going to put QPR under sufficient pressure.

That game was there for the taking, we were on top for large spells... They were not really a threat, yet neither were we... It’s alright securing the back, but the reality is goals win games... and that was a game we really beeded

Playing one of our most creative players at LWB is ridiculous...

So much pressure now on the next two games... against two teams thy are likely to come at us...

Woodgate's a tinkerer. Albeit a long way short of being a classic, we beat Rotherham and kept another clean sheet. Why,FFS, change it ? Why do we persist in passing the ball around at the back when opponents press us and and close us down quickly? Get rid of the fucking thing !!! Mepham hasnt got the skill or composure to **************** around with the ball at the back! How many goals have we conceded because we dick about at times. Why has Shane Long become our number 1 striker in Solankes absence?? Pick a team, if it wins pick that team next time, if there's an injury replace the player, if the team wins stick with that team. Stop fucking tinkering !! It's showing on the pitch that the players are fucked off again!

I don't disagree, Kelly and CCV looked good, but he clearly didn't want to play Rico (he's so flaky) at left-back and with Stacy injured he had no choice but to go with the back three
It worked well in the first half with Smith getting a lot of space down our right and Stan had that early chance down the left

we didn't lose yesterday because of our formation(s) we lost due to individual errors
