The Never Ending Jukebox Track Three

Thinking about gigs back in the 70s, this band was always a delight to see at the Village.

She’s tougher than Siouxsie, cuter than Gaye
Weirder than Polly, takes my breath away
She’d rather wear safety pins, than diamonds or pearls
She’s my punk rock girl, punk rock girl

I’ve known so many girls all around the world
There’s no one like my punk rock girl
She’s fresher than Doris Day, perfect in every way
I’d be nothing without her, no sir, without her

She’s got the face of an angel, always dresses in black
Wears a leather jacket, Johnny Thunders on the back
Takes crap from no one, got me in a whirl
She’s my punk rock girl, punk rock girl

She’s a punk rock girl, punk rock girl
She’s a punk punk punk rocker
Punk punk punk rock girl
Punk rock girl

Kenya
Think they supported The Jam IIRC ?
I had seen them prior with John Cale at the Winter Gardens. Brilliant band

On a cheery note, the threat of war in the Ukraine put me in mind of the era of protest songs and the Vietnam war. I was about 12 and one of our more enlightened and less straight laced teachers played this. The original was by Mick Softley, but Donovan's version was better known over here

Sorry but I find 60’s folky protest songs to generally be whiney nonsense.
For me this is proper a 60’s protest song.

Schools were mentioned on another musical thread.

Misquoting,

That'll be the day I go back to PGS."
