The Never Ending Jukebox, track two.

However, most Canadians consider these his masterpieces

Both tell great stories of Canadiana. The first is an interesting composition because it is indeed three separate melodies. I included the video with the lyrics for the second, in case the story is not well known.

I moved to Toronto in 1980 and there was a very lively music scene - lots of good bands and great venues.

For some reason, I thought about this band today. ROUGH TRADE. Definitely groundbreaking. I wish I could find a better video, the lesbo crush theme shook us all up.

In this second video, you can see Carole Pope in her terrifying glory. She was miles ahead of her time. In looking through videos, I just found out today that she was born in Manchester.

Finally, for today, a great little Toronto band that was also miles ahead of their time with the incorporation of reggae influences and soca percussion into a "hip" song. Uplifting lyrics are as valid today as they were 35 years ago (f^^^, 35 years!!).
