Tyler Adams

Key sentence is ‘doesn’t show direction of the pass’. Most of them are to James Hill…
Some stats here, handy site.

His forward passing rate is in the 68th percentile for Premier League CMs, so above average but not elite.

It may well be that he’s passing it backwards a lot, but I can’t find anything to back your statement up, nor that when compared others he’s any worse.

Can you?

It's incredibly odd how you've got it in your mind that Adams loses possession. It couldn't be further from the truth. He may lack creativity but he retains possession better than any of our other midfielders.

defensive midfield roles historically have typically always been the most undervalued 'what do they do' roles by fans. If they dont score, assist and have busy body language - they're prime candidates for scrutiny. Yet despite often highly regarded managers picking them for years, we still get comments like we do from a few on here...

particularly when they're operating as part of team like AI's, where they we part of a team, reknowned throughout the country as playing some of the best, attacking, entertaining football in the land for best part of 2 years or so,

Spot on, I can remember Surman getting loads of grief for passing sideways and not adding anything going forward but actually he was probably the most important player in that league winning side.

They might be 5 yard forward passes? You can make stats say most things if you want.

We do all go to games or watch them on TV.. Adams doesn’t get the team moving forwards at pace like Scott does when he plays in the 6 or Lewis Cook does when on form (more in the past) and in that partnership with Christie.

He does offer much more defensively than both those. That’s why I’d start him in certain games and not others.

There will be a young player out there that does both though.

Fritter mentions Surman. He was a good example of a deep lying midfielder who could spray 70 yard balls or split the lines.

Christ on Ready Brek. .. the sheer headiness of it ...likely to bring on altitude sickness !

It was a behind closed doors event in Croatia ffs ...with the local team no more Up For It than Gary Glitter on an Adult dating App !

I’m not making the stats say anything, if you’re going to suggest he plays the ball backwards too much then that’s fine, just suggesting that doesn’t appear to be the case from what I posted.

Players play the role The coach has given them. Fans sometimes don't like it (or recognise it)

See under Kelly, Lloyd
The best people to answer this question would be his team mates. I'd wager that he would be their first name on the team sheet.

Its all a much of a muchness....what goes on, on a football field over 95 minutes is subject to many many circumstantial things...
...not least that there is another team out there wanting the ball, to score goals and to come away with a win...that be the top and bottom of it..then you can add in at your pleasure and leisure what Commercialisation does to pure amateur sport .

You start putting players on pedestals and expecting expectations ..then sorry Mon Ami...you is in for some shocks !

Boscombe Football above all else...teaches one that much...oh boy does it !

When you contrast the shite he gives Adams with the fact he credits Adli for qualifying us for Europe it really does show how ludicrous it all is.
that adli statement was possibly his most bonkers to date, as though he'd been desperate enough to analyse the whole season and attribute every point to each individual players' contribution; the dawsometer

Always sweet when you and Del get together for your mutual beat off about me.

Without Adlis winners over the Merseyside giants we don’t get Europe. Much as you’d love to believe it I never said it was the only reason. That would be bonkers as you’ve pointed out! I also have never said he’s had a good season as he has been underwhelming so far for sure. Hoping he picks up under Rose as unlike you and a couple others I did see some promise.

It was slightly amusing the first time but wore out its humor when repeatedly stated as done yet again above..

As you well know Neil, Sundays are for roasting.
I don’t envy you.
