VAR

They had no link to the VAR. You could see the Hawkeye chap trying to sort it all out.
Sorry but the FA released a statement confirming that it was a headset issue and nothing to do with VAR. It was also clear to see that although they at first suspected the VAR equipment ( as you would with any new technology) the problem was resolved by replacing the lino’s headset and nothing else.

The Premier League released a statement protecting their new baby on its debut.

The game could have continued without the headsets working. Games have done in the past.

The sync up required for VAR was why they delayed the game whether they admit it or not.

Ok whatever.

I thought King was pulled down at the end in the box, players asking for VAR, crowd asking for VAR, didn’t even look at it.
What was odd about that is that the ref gave a shirt pull free kick right outside the box moments later for much less obvious a foul. If that was a foul then what about etc etc

We didn't deserve it mind.

We were given a free kick today and the Sheffield United player was given a yellow, in my view routine, card. The screen came up possible red card. I think that undermined the authority of the referee. Learning curve all round but not impressed but we have to live with it.

Took so much away from the atmosphere.

The flailing arm that caught Steve Cook in the first half. Before VAR would have got the north stand up baying for blood, screaming at the referee to try and influence him.

He gives nothing, everything in the world is unjust everyone hates Bournemouth the atmosphere ramps up and so on.

Absolutely none of that because we all know there’s a jobsworth ref watching a live feed to make sure we rule out goals when someone is offside by a toenail.

King was pulling the defender before the attacker pulled him in return. You couldn't give an AFCB free kick in that situation. Correct decision.

I understand checking the goals but there was too much interference. The red card call....wtf was that about ? Let the referee do his job, that's part of the game.

Checking the goals is a problem for me. Every goal is checked so you've got this weird feeling that you think you've scored but not had it confirmed. Not good.

Not helped by the referee hanging around the box rather than the centre circle giving the impression that he’s about to disallow it.

They checked our goal for absolutely no reason. No one was tussling, no one was anywhere near being offside? Don’t understand it. I’m pretty sure they didn’t check their equally scrappy goal?

I’ll have to rewatch it. It looked a pen to me but I’m just a little surprised it didn’t even go to VAR, given the other nonsense calls that were made.

Problem with VAR is you haven’t a clue what’s going on in the stadium. I think they made a couple of announcements but honestly you couldn’t hear a thing in the south stand. And of course there is no screen to look at. You seriously don’t have a clue what’s going on. As a fan who’s paid good money and who wants to be involved in the action, you’re taken for a mug. FFS get rid of it. I’ll take the odd rough decision. That’s live sport.
