City - The verdict

Gave that a real go didn't we. Until the 3rd went in, we had them rattled.

Worldy from H. Wilson. Trying to recall a better free kick at home.

Wee Man is now excused free kick, and hopefully corner duties.

Play like that against Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, & Utd, then we will be saying we never get points off the Big 2.

All in all. Anything today would have been a big bonus.
Quite useful that the game finished just as England needed 18 runs.

A 6.5/10 performance.

A 9/10 playing performance....crowd 3/10...

In fairness on tele it entirely depends what stations you watch if you’re judging an atmosphere. The Arabic channels for instance have the crowd turned right down

Thought the atmosphere was good in parts. 3rd goal went in and it was game over. We had a go but felt a couple of players could've given us a bit more. Callum needs to bury those sort of chances when they come along. Felt we got the rough end of a few ref decisions. I'm thinking after the comments made by Pep ' the PL's love child' following the spurs result that they turned the VAR off for decisions that may have favoured us. Yet another shocker from the ref.

I think I'm right in saying that the Sky microphones are near the away section...
.I think I heard that somewhere anyway.....

Was interesting to hear the City fans shouting ‘f*** VAR’ when they had a review for a penalty (to them).

Atmosphere was better than usual.
We gave it good go, if Smithys chance goes in and Callum takes his chance it's a different game.
Some poor refereeing and no var check for the pull on Callum made it a bit frustrating. Couldn't understand Marriner playing advantage for the foul on Smithy and then not giving the free kick when we gained no advantage.
Lerma was the pick of our team for me but they all put in a good shift.

I thought Marriner was ok today apart from the incident in bold above.
That was a really poor decision.. waved advantage which very quickly turned out not to be an advantage as we lost the ball straight away. Play should have been pulled back for the FK to us.
I thought he should have booked the City player for the first foul (cynical one on Smudger I think) but refs often reluctant to book that early.
Incident involving the keeper.. booking was the right decision. It was cynical but can't IMHO be regarded as DOGSO, wasn't serious foul play, therefore yellow.

Spot on this. That first foul was a textbook yellow, as was the keeper's challenge if we're all honest. It feels like yellow isn't enough for cynical challenges like that but the actual challenge wasn't bad enough for a red and definitely wasn't a DOGSO.

Haven’t seen it back but thought Walker should have had two yellows.

The other full back should also have had a yellow.
Not stamping down on that allows Man City to do another and then another...

Marriner is terrible though. No authority on games.

I thought we were outclassed rather than outplayed today. The reality is that every single one of their player in their position is better than ours, except possibly Ake.

Very proud of the team today, but gutted for Charlie. Nasty feeling we will never see him again
