Does anyone actually want us to go up? I don't want that or worse every week.

For me we need to sort the manager and coaches roles out, forget the players for the moment, woeful tactics from JW, if we got rid of JT why appoint someone who's clueless. Is purches upto it?
We need new manager and coaching team sooner rather than later, then let them decide which players to keep.

End of season socially distance party tonight.......pizza in the car park coming by Bentley...........:censor:

My point is, look at the groves games, Swindon away we were woeful, daniels etc looked like pub players, then Eddie came in.
Not saying all these players could do it, but an experienced manager would sort the basics out

I don't think it matters what anyone wants - the bedwetters were right - no promotion this year and most likely relegation next year.

We would have to be very good to go up. So if we did then we would have played well. No doubt if we got promoted we would strengthen the team. So people shouldn't 'fear' promotion.

We would either need to take the money, do a Derby and go back down, or rebuild massively in the summer and buy 6 or 7 PL quality players. This lot just not up to PL.

Currently I feel that at the end of the season at least 3 of Lerma, Danjuma, Billing, Rico and Begovich will go, probably abroad. Brooks and L Cook might go in January after proving their fitness. The rest are Championship players and will stay unless a club with a chance of promotion decides to take a chance. Whoever the new manager is will be told he won't get much transfer budget because the players were bought as an investment and they need a return on that now.
Shame because I think the growth of the town and its younger demographic means the club has real potential, but appointing JW makes it look like, without EH, Demin has fallen out of love with the club and maybe the players think that too.

Not convinced we will get anywhere near promotion so I guess we will wait and see what we have left in terms of Manager and players come the weeks after the season ends and we are facing another Championship battle?
No doubt we will lose Smith,Billing,Danjuma,Lerma,Begovic,Rico and probably Brooks,Kelly and Solanke?
So we will have both Cooks,Mepham,Pearson,Surridge,Stacey,Anthony,Kilkenny,Zemura,Travers,Stanislas and Dennis to build a squad around assuming we have some money to spend?
Wilshere,Riquelme and Carter Vickers will cease their loans and be off...
We certainly will require a truly good coach and motivator to replace Woodgate IMO...
An interesting future lies ahead for sure!

It depends. We’re no where near good enough, but as long as the board recognised that and we used the money wisely to buy good championship players and build the training ground then I’d absolutely take a season of getting hammered. We could then come back down and be in a much better position than we are now.

The issue is I don’t trust the board to recognise that and act on it....

The rot has set in....the slide down is inevitable.
Recruitment is the big problem....we get ripped off time after time...some of these players have been hyped up to something they are not .. and they get told the manager is ' interim'...what do you expect? They basically see themselves elsewhere.
They have got it in their heads that they are PL players and do not like not being in it.
They won't bust a gut and get injured..not even for Cup glory..when they have their agents searching out a move upwards!

Were the tactics really that bad?
I thought we did the best we could with the players we had available.
We actually did have good spells of play and chances to score.
Our undoing was poor defending and individual errors ,which as we all know when playing Prem teams, gets you punished.
Don't forget,we had L Cook,Lerma,Stan,Smith ,Brooks and Kelly all unavailable today.
The starting 11 picked itself and it came up short, its that simple.

I'd gladly settle for a few unremarkable seasons in the championship playing in front of full houses every other week, with some hard working players who look like they enjoy playing for the club
all that plus the possibility of improving the infrastructure (can we start converting back those "media seats" into proper seats for, you know, actual fcuking fans?!)

I don't suppose any of the above will be the reality

No I agree, first half formation and system matched the players available.

If it wasn’t for Diego Rico, who used his get out of jail free card with the first VAR disallowed goal then went walk about for the second and skipped past the ball. We were at least competitive.

The tactics were terrible once Woodgate started tinkering. 2 man midfield with Wilshere is something we’ve known for the best part of 5 years...

Surridge is a striker who needs service, throwing him on without a plan isn’t going to turn the game around, especially when removing a central midfielder to put him on sees us concede even more of the ball.
