Max trying to sell up

I've always thought that he'd be open to offers, if they were worth his while and would leave the club in a better position. Our time in the PL raised our profile so he'd be stupid not to sell if it made him a profit without damaging the club.

I just don't think he is particularly mercenary. He seems happy enough to carry on as we are because he enjoys owning the club but of course he would be open to offers if they should suit all parties. I really don't think he's any more inclined to sell the club than any other owner, they are all businessmen at the end of the day.

Personally I hope he doesn't sell the club to be honest. He is a perfect fit for us. These big foreign corporations and investment groups don't really understand English football and we've seen plenty of takeovers which were supposed to elevate clubs to new levels which ended up being the absolute death of them.

I don't think he wants to cut and run, just realised that maybe his own pockets aren't quite deep enough. Hence him bringing the yanks onboard a few years though that didn't work out as well as he'd hoped

For maybe the first time in my supporting life, I'm not actually worried about our ownership. Max has been great and given us a level of security unknown before. Deserves more praise for that I think

Yes. Just recently it was stated that Max's commitment to the club was unwavering. There was no need to say that unless it was true. Of course he is putting feelers out to see if there is any interest. Based upon what we know about Max so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see him just looking to sell a stake in the club once again, this time to investors who share his vision.

I don't think too much can be read into that article. Frankly he'd be mad NOT to be looking around for investors !

At least we can be fairly happy that Max wouldn't sell to the first shysters that came along. See the last potential buy-out from the people who then went onto mess Derby around for months on end. Ultimately they were con merchants / fantasists, always went quiet every time they had a deadline to submit any kind of funding.

Edit to add - I remember Blake came off the board of directors recently. Perhaps this helps to explain, perhaps new persons may enter the boardroom, either with Max or instead of him. I haven't a clue, just thinking aloud.

Bottom line, I wouldn't panic just yet.

I think given Parker’s very public spat with FFC, like him or not, his arrival does create an air of settledness and commitment moving forward… There is no way on Earth he would have signed if he had a whiff of upstairs being unsettled…

Max is a business man first and a club owner second. It would be foolish to be comfortable and hoping for the salvation of PL status and huge cash handout… Max must always be looking for investors or genuine buyers for AFCB…so sensationalising a story like this a bit of a non event really..

The Prem was not a huge cash hand out for Max, all of the money was used to invest in the playing squad. This is highlighted by the fact that he has loaned the club 160m since he took over, on top of the Prem money received. It benefits him financially as players acquired are assets that technically belong to him, but any player sales have thus far only been used to provide cash to sustain the running of the club. As Mostyn pointed out, Max has never taken a penny from the club.this can be verified by looking at the accounts.

….so how much do you think Max has ‘gifted’ the club?

I don’t really understand the question. I know he has loaned the club 160m (at 0% interest) and invested a further 20m in share capital. I also know that he is yet to take a single penny out of the club. Investing in the form of a loan protects his investment in a way as it would be taken into account when calculating any potential sale price, at the same time it makes us a far less attractive proposition for potential buyers. If you’re trying to suggest that Max uses the club for his own financial benefit, there is literally no evidence to support this. Apologies if that assumption is wide of the mark.

Not saying that he is using the club for his own financial benefit…but he probably hasn’t got a cat in hells chance of getting all his money back unless he sold us for a dream price….

I think its an issue of perspective. None of us have ao much money we are literally looking for things to do with it, so we find it hard to comprehend.

I can't believe Max decided to invest us when we were a bang average L1 side. I bet he never believed the next 7 seasons would be in the championship (maybe) and then the PL for 5 years (unrealistic).

Like all things you could become bored or perhaps an offer comes along that seems right.

He doesnt strike me as someone who wants to sell, but perhaps unrealistic as it might be, I think he woukd like to get us back to the PL and stay there and keep improving. That needs a lot of ongoing money. Anyway, I am so grateful he did, because he has given us all the most magnificent decade, and the journey isn't over yet.
