On this day....

First Team
10 years ago. Has he sobered up yet? Did the man in the leather jacket's eyes remain in his head? And own up, who's been watching the other lot up the road?

10 years?

That's flown by.

Looking back, that was probably the last time in my life that I got properly angry.

I wasn't the bloke with bulging eyes, but I may as well have been, I was incandescent with rage at Mitchell at the time and have only calmed down a fraction 10 years on.

And anyone who thinks we should be grateful to him for getting Max onboard, the strong rumours at the time were that Max was very close to walking away during the league one promotion season because of Mitchell and Mitchell Jr.

I have a mind of my own.. I boo and jeer what 'I' f√cking well think warrants it... ..and sheep do what sheep do..
Sorry Brian, that's an even more stupid comment than your previous one. If you had been there you would have recognised a spontaneous outrbreak of genuine and intense anger at the damage Mitchell was doing to our club's image and reputation that afternoon.
I would hazard a guess that a sizeable majority of those incensed fans in the North stand that day had, in previous years, put their hands in their pockest and come up with money they could probably ill afford to keep the Club they loved alive.
I felt the same as KBG - I have never been so angry at a football match before or since.

I put £20 in the Buckets.. and had shoved many coins across the turnstiles, from 1961 for many seasons up until 20I5 .. I will think and say what I like !

,

You've finally lost the plot completely with that one Brian. Had you been there you would have booed and jeered him like the rest of us.

Probably not..I don't like mob- handed vitriol and violence.
It was only about Money and Business...an interpretation by people that wouldn't have known all the facts...a bit like Now ..:whist:

This is only opinion ...I've read much stuff periodically about that period...and had heard rumours upon rumours, in pubs around Poole and Bournemouth when I've been back..fans get drawn in by so much conflicting hearsay and such....and then get worked into a frenzy..its all bollux ...its what Football has become!

Rumours, rumours, rumours :shake:. The fact is Max didn’t walk. And the fact is had Mitchell not introduced Max, our club would likely have been fcked…I’m certainly no fan of Mitchell but yes, I am grateful to him for that introduction. Why wouldn’t I be?
