Andoni Iraola

There's no covering their error here. Bill has said the decision to replace the manager was Hughes's and he's surely going to be held responsible if they feel they have to pull the trigger.

I suspect the players will be being canvased and that will go a long way to whether they stick or twist with Iraola.
Yes. I always think you definitely lose your job when 1) you’ve lost the players and Franno would know this via Adam Smith who I’m sure would be taken into counsel or 2) if you have a replacement lined up.

Sometimes it needs both. If he is going hope we have a replacement

Tricky one for Bill though. I think it's a bit simplistic to heap all of the blame on Hughes, the guy is obviously a good manager and on paper it looked like a good appointment, ultimately though Hughes has to be held accountable for what seems an awful decision. He can't be allowed to select a replacement after such a failure.

Foley does have some good football contacts that are independent to Hughes. The Roma and Villa owners who he's said he speaks to.

You'd hope they have someone lined up, when (if) they pull the trigger.

Something tells me we'll see Elphick alongside Cooper and Franno at the helm...

Wouldn't surprise me if they move him on after Burnley. Gives two weeks to install someone... if not already lined up. Amonth actually until big game and Sheff U...

We need points of course, but Old Trafford a week after Burnley is hardly a big deal if we Same could be said for Toon visit a week later.

If we don't beat Burnley at home, he's gone imo, and given the start to the season under him, who cares if Elphick is in charge for Man U...the signs looking extremely unlikely we'd get something under AI anyway.

Could say that gives nearly a month until what is a game we likely are looking to need 3 points, certainly not lose. Plenty of time to source new boss (which I'd hope is well underway anyway), get him in and time to get used to players (and vice versa), implement system etc

Seems opportune window to replace AI, if he's now that close to the chop...

Personally I think we should stick it out.

We’ve brought the bloke in to change our identity, introduce a style of play to be excited by. That takes time.

Especially when you only have the help from your assistant via zoom.

You need a few transfer windows to get the players you want, especially when that first window you go and buy two injured players in the one area or the pitch you critically needed to fill.

It is not Iraloa's fault the squad is an unbalanced mess
It is not Iraloa's fault we signed a central midfield injured
It is not Iraloa's fault that players who should know better are making the most inexplicable basic mistakes.

There are others who need to take some responsibility, in the playing squad and on the board.

It's understandable to resist change this early but something has gone drastically wrong. As someone pointed out earlier, we were doing ok until half time at Brighton, since when we've been absolutely dire. I'm no historian or statistician but has any club not been relegated with just 3 points at the end of October?

Agree, I think they are going to have to back their decision. None of the other options seem to be much better. It's going to be tough if we don't win before the international break though.

So you’re asking for him to be sacked based on performances since Brighton second half?

They may have a school of thought that Burnley is our only winnable game before the end of Nov and ‘if’ he has lost the players then our best chance of getting the crucial three points might be with a change of style to close the hole in midfield and get the crowd behind Elphick.

It wouldn’t be my preference but I could see the logic.

Give him Burnley before making any decisions. Saturday wasn’t his fault
I'm paraphrasing but the voices were saying that if we don't beat Everton, things will have to change. We didn't beat Everton. The voices then said that if we don't beat Wolves, things will have to change. We didn't beat Wolves. The voices are now saying that is we don't beat Burnley, things will have to change. If we don't beat Burnley, we have Newcastle and Man City to come. After that the voices will say that if we don't beat Sheffield United, things will have to change.
