Non - Wetherspoons

no it hasn't. In 1974 there were 180 breweries in this country, now there are 1800. Spoons has actively supported local and regional brewers more than any other pub group. Stop making stuff up.

There are not 1800 indigenous regional breweries.

With the well publicised takeover of Fuller’s brewing operation by Japan’s Asahi in January 2019, we thought it was time we looked at how the structure of the UK brewing industry has changed since those heady days back in 1980 when beer sales were at an all time high of 67mhL.

The big six had 39 breweries before the Beer Orders; only eight are still operating.

Cornwall has some brilliant small breweries...and some of the best ales in Britain....but it's only a matter of time before the big w@nker companies buy them out and f√ck up the recipes !

If you read up the history of that particular building you will find it was a branch of the Parkstone and Heatherlands Society. A bit of local history !
likewise the Blackwater etc.
and Poole
The Grockles will always struggle to understand.

THEN You my friend have never taken a drop of Holts Bitter from Manchester..a classic and tasty beer..one of the few things I miss about the UK
Every bitter drinker claims their local ale or fav brew is special, I'm not not prejudice - North or South, East or West it's flat drip tray piss, it's 80p a pint cheaper on average than the worst tap lagers in world like Carling, Carlsberg and Fosters because it's that bad, flat, tasteless rat piss.

haha No fence sitting for you is there.. seriously it’s a lovely drop of bitter, one of a very few beers/lagers I do actually enjoy

Seeing as this is yet another area of your immeasurable expertise, please enlighten us as to what you drink.

I appreciate Harry's expertise on this but every single Wetherspoons I've been in serves crap beer and even worse food.

Let the politics go, just for a minute eh! We can all guess your stance.

I've been to loads, I've lost count in almost every corner of the country and they don't all serve crap beer. The food maybe but it does a job, no one goes there expecting a michelin experience.

I think it’s politics getting in your way, I’m literally speaking from personal experience. I’ve already said that I’d try a pub that’s in the good beer guide. I think we can all guess your stance.

Filling the pockets of Tim Martin the brexit champion ;)

Fair play stan at least you've softened, there are two forums I frequent where the mere mention of his name results in a massive throwing of sandals, the odd death threat and stories of 'the good old days' ..when they actually struggle to recount what those days were.

Stella Artois. I presume you like bitter after that spicy response Stan?
We are complete opposites ying and yang i get it, like a parody, how do we support same team shouldn't be possible

Stella Artois is usually locally brewed under 'license'

That usually means it's nowhere near the same as it should be.

It's the same for most beers that are renowned worldwide, and consumed across the world.

Guiness hasn't sold its soul to the devil, and remains brewed in Ireland, and exported.

For something sold in kegs and cans, that's unusual.

Spirits of course get exported from the point of origin, but that's much more cost effective, than say cans or kegs.

Moral of the story, drink what you enjoy and don't get into an argument about which tipple is best.

Each to their own.

Ah the old "wife beater" that makes sense with your username ;)

When my brother and father got murdered by the Ottomans and i got taken hostage when I was 11 years old for military conscription for the Otto army and relentless buggery I didn't take it well so I escaped, drank stella, went back to my castle in my homeland and I impaled every otto intruder that entered my domain I admit it, ptsd - I defended my homeland and impaled them all brutally to make a statement often through their rectum. I did what I thought was right to protect my people and showed courage against an enemy with superior numbers and it worked as their visits became more sparse over time.
My origin story got forgotten and I soon became a symbol of savagery and the impaling stories started the vampire movement- but I suppose it made me as famous as Genghis can't complain. It's been nearly 600 years and I'm still famous, gives me a right dopamine hit.

Wow, that's an impressive story.

But I think you're blurring the lines between now and then.

Your namesake isn't you.

Too man Stellas ?

Predictions v Tottenham??

My comments are not libellous. They are merely a personal opinion. I wouldn't bother going into the legal profession if I were you.

A personal opinion cannot be libellous ??

I'd be very careful if I were you.

I'm not sure, but I believe that DJ, as the "publisher" might technically be liable for anything libellous posted here.
