Goalkeeper upgrade for next season.

Starting to get nervous with Neto in goal mistake gifted them and equaliser also punched the ball when it would have been easier to catch it his distribution has dropped off recently just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this situation.
 
I think he has looked shaky a lot particularly against the more English style teams. He is a great shot stopper, but average kicker and poor on crosses and not physically dominant. There’s a reason he has been a back up keeper at most clubs. Our signings have been very poor in this department. Radu and Randolph also not up to it. Hopefully a new recruitment boss will help us get this position sorted for next year with Neto as a reliable back up.
 
I hate to jump on a player but his distribution was as dodgy as hell today. Several close calls trying to mess around at the back , wayward kicks into both the MS and East stands and then the faux pas.

It's more like he loses concentration than any sort of confidence thing.

Radu signing makes zero sense to me. Even more confusing is the fact he didn’t go back to his parent club in January once we recalled Travers.

When you say our recruitment has been poor in the goalkeeping department Neto has won us plenty of points in the last couple of seasons. He’s looked dodgy of late but wouldn’t class him as poor recruitment at all. We’ve also just signed that youngster McKenna who was supposedly sought after by loads of top clubs. Travers and Ramsdale another good example of recruitment in this position.
 
Despite Netos odd mistake here and there. I would sooner have him in between the sticks than Travers. I appreciate Travers for his efforts but IMO he is not a PL keeper.

Radu, in all fairness, has not had the opportunity to prove himself with us.
 
Both Neto and Travers are weak at crosses, indeed I think that it seems to be a fading art as I can’t really think of many who dominate their six yard box with ball in the air?
Both are good shot stoppers … but that is their job?
As for distribution not sure our England goalie was much better yesterday?
Even the likes of Edison and Allison have made big errors this season?
Best PL keeper for me is is probably between Raya and Martinez from what I have watched this season?
You probably have to pay shed loads to bring in a better one that what we have…Neto is okay but agree if Franno can dig up a gem from somewhere in the summer it would be good.
Can’t say that I can recommend anyone from the lower leagues?
 
When you look at some of the other keepers in the league, Neto is really ok. Not saying we can't upgrade but when you think Utd paid £47m for Onana, Brentford £11m for Flekken, who are both inferior....
 
Oh and imagine if we signed Pickford. £30m for a player who drops a clanger every time he plays at Dean Court. We'd be down by Xmas

Not fussed about pens - not sure what average is, but doubt you get a keeper that saves more than a quarter or so of pens? More of a bonus thing, than essential, when choosing your gk imo.

Tough one with Neto, as stats indicate doing well, but he seems to have that Brazillian gk trait of being eccentric/unreliable... whereas I prefer more rock/solid consistent gk's... better version of David Forde types - if they still exist in modern game.

Very weak yesterday dealing with that cross. In isolation, not a big issue, but when assessed with all the other 'clangers', questions will be asked by people.

Sorry I've started another thread on this didn't scan hard enough to see yours, apologies, but I agree , dropped far too many clangers for me and I'm on edge every time we play out from the back .

We are sometimes lacking in the defensive department but if we were more determined . Got out quicker and could find a keeper who was more demanding in the 18 yard box . Maybe they could catch the ball occasionally (I desperately miss Ramsdale) we would have a complete side. When we play well together we're awesome.
