Non - Future Of Farming?

Good or bad?

Ivy Farm, on the outskirts of Oxford, is not a farm as you know it.

There is grass but it's artificial, there are pigs and sheep but they are upholstered foot-stools with sewn-on faces. There are offices and labs where meat is grown.

This could be the future of farming.

That future could be about to take a small step closer, as the prestigious Piccadilly grocer Fortnum & Mason tests the meat in its famous scotch egg.

There’s a real case for lab grown meat. Although Britain has really high standards for animal welfare, apart from chickens, a lot of the world doesn’t. America, China, Australia and many other countries produce antibiotic fuelled animals kept in terrible conditions with no access to grass. The sooner they are put out of business, the better.

It shouldn't even be a direct animal welfare argument any more. The carbon/ methane emissions and habitat destruction due to clearing of forests for grazing affects the welfare of every single species on this planet.

Gary forgets to mention all of the Volatile Organic Compounds he decided to release into the atmosphere when he had his house unnecessarily spray painted with Graffiti.

Virtue signaling.

A real case for eating genetically modified lab grown meat?

Well please let everyone know what that may be for goodness sake.

I bet you were the first person lined up for the Covid jab?

It's ruined more people's lives than the ones it saved.

The majority who were 'vaccinated' by the jab, went on to get it.

Some who got it died.

But you'll never know if you got it and lived?

I work with colleagues who are working on many projects in SW England to re-wild previously intensively farmed land. That doesn't mean no more farming, it's just done in a different and more considerate way.
With the odd exception the farmers are happy to help where they can. New hedgerows joining islands of habitat, land drains grubbed out and more water held higher up the stream etc, lighter, less destructive cattle like Highland cows are examples too.
Where tenanted farms are vacated things go further. New woodlands parkland and wild flower meadows are being planted. It's a small attempt to redress the imbalance of modern intensive farming and putting back at least some natural habitat for flora and fauna.
On the back of that I have no problem with lab grown meat!

What the hell have COVID tin foil hat conspiracies got to do with anything on this thread?

I'll get back to you when you are capable of critical thought.

There's a link.

People who will eat meat grown in a laboratory, will also get mass vaccinated for a virus that was........

Grown in a laboratory.

If you want to eat 'meat' that is grown by a scientist.....fill your boots mate.

How Frankenstein is the notion?

What do you think you are eating now? All animals we eat are “man-made”, genetically engineered and stuffed full of hormones. If you do want to eat Frankenstein meat you need to move the Amazon and hunt for your food.

Not sure what you're eating, but I eat grass fed cows, organically raised, and chickens that live in my own garden.

Don't get your knickers in a twist because you buy your meat from Sainsburys.

I don't, you do.

Fill your boots with lab grown protein you clown.

Well said dragon. People resort to conspiracy theory’ accusations when they have lost arguments , it used to be reverting to godwins law (mentioning Hitler). Who, in their right mind would want artificial meat? This is purely a financial play. They try and scare us with things all the time and every time they are wrong, but money rules, so they constantly push BS….

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.. that's democracy.

Even on this Forum...yes this f√cking majorily elitist and politically wracked Forum !!!!!

You don't think science or laboratories have been involved in any stage of current food production. Therein lies the problem, you lack critical thought.

You create links based on your own preconceived biases and don't use scientific basis.

Something like 80% of soybeans are used to feed livestock. Very inefficient way of getting protein into humans, and a very wasteful use of water. Lab grown meat won’t be for everyone, but it’ll be good for the planet
