Hurn Court (originally Heron Court) now a block of apartments near Bournemouth Airport, used to be the hereditary home of successive Earls of Malmesbury after a bequest in the late 18th century. The Second Earl, a keen sportsman imported Labrador Hounds from Newfoundland when there was significant trade into Poole from there, and together with the Duke of Buccleuch is responsible for the pure Labrador bloodlines in the UK today. Handel, Lord Nelson and Lily Langtry have all stayed at Hurn Court (but not at the same time!)
