AFC Bournemouth v Leicester City - Fifth Round FA Cup

I went to the game last night and share the same frustrations noted by many others. A PL team including many 'first team' members was beaten by a Leicester second XI, which was a big disappointment following the excellent performance we put up against City in the previous game. Having said that, I've just watched the BBC highlights - so many chances... how on earth did we not score in that game?! For some time before the final whistle I thought we looked tired and like a team who has forgotten what it feels like to win a game of football.

AI needs to have a word with himself for last night. The constant punting balls down the line seems to work in maybe one out of four attempts, whereby the opposing defender usually wins the ball and we lose possession yet again. We had some good players to use as substitutions but it felt like a panic scattergun approach when sending them on to the pitch. I'm not sure if most of the players knew what they were supposed to be doing, particularly during the ET periods. Billing should have been hooked off at 60 mins and we ended up with Scott as centre back.

Talking of which, Alex Scott has obvious potential and I guess is still finding his feet with the step up to the levels of the PL, but I find myself willing and then waiting for him to make things happen... maybe more for next season?

Tavs is a shadow of last season and has zero confidence. Not sure what is happening there.

Unal looked really decent in the first half. Let's hope any injury is minor and he is available for Burnley.

Great noise from the Leicester support...not so much from us.

We haven't won a League game since boxing day so it is vital AI gets the team sorted for the run of games in March. We need to be playing with our previous confidence and swagger!

Directly nobody. Yet! But reading between the lines he has a knee injury. It is fair to assume that there is a high risk that he will not be playing along with Unal.
if we win against Burnley will you come on here and admit you were wrong or will you come on here stating that we will lose against sheff utd for some reason or another?

No, if we win at Burnley (of which is now highly unlikely), I will admit that it was a wrong prediction. Currently, if we lose at Sheff Utd it will be for the same reasons i.e. no effective strike force on the pitch.

so all the times you have been wrong this season with your predictions how many times have you been on here after saying you were wrong?

why the 11 games we lost I think 3 or 4 we should of maybe got something from the others were against the big 6,
remember saying man utd away was a write off and we should play our development squad to rest our players? how did that work out?
If everyone ignores him, he'll go away, he clearly gets some thrill from getting reactions. I don't believe for one minute he even believes what he says himself

I think he does believe it, I think he believes he gas some sort of gift, kind of like waz was our promotion season with notts forest

It’s difficult to know what to say about last night’s performance. It was far from good but certainly not poor.
We got ourselves into plenty of positions that should have been put away but the final ball and finishing was woeful.
Not having a replacement for Unal was the key moment in the game and I’m sure AI will be regretting not having Solanke as a sub.
The back 4 and Cook played well and proved that these players don’t really need to be rested, Travers and Unal did enough to boost their first team chances, the other 4 that came in in the creative positions will all be back on the bench for Burnley.
It’s all so bloody disappointing, I’m totally gutted today.
Onward to Burnley and hopefully a proper response and a few goals. UTC

It was a dispiriting performance. It seems like many of the guys are trying too hard to make things happen individually. A win would probably solve a lot. Maybe this match will be another turning point in the season. I hope so.

I think the key is their second string players played like a team that knew what they were doing and had played together... Lots of support and triangles all over the park... in contrast, we played for large parts like 11 individuals... Frequently not supporting the man on the ball, not looking for better options, misplaced passing... the list goes on... We played a very frantic game and lacked a lot of composure...

and that comes down to the manager and coaches

I lost count of how many times their centre half (ex scummer) played a straight forward pass in the middle of the pitch, which was dropped off to a wide midfield player coming inside who then had a free run at our back four

took iraola an hour to notice

the shots/on target stats were mostly out of desperation when we'd failed to get to grips tactically with their defensive setup, we never had an out-ball and were reduced to wild pot-shots

Its Neil, but with a different agenda.

In fairness, I have fared a lot better than you give credit for.
Anyone who says we are going to lose every week whilst in the premier league will most probably be right more than not.
What were your excuses for the two seasons we were promoted from the championship and the season we were promoted for league one?
One good thing it’s only 4 weeks on Friday till the Easter Mothercare Security Guard reunion. You and the other member, who if memory serves me right is called Edwin will have lots to talk about.

Mmm.....we ain't had a victory for some time now....and looking back at the one at Old Trafford..it's kind of mind - boggling.....

I sort of knew that as soon as Forum Fools started putting Iraola on a pedestal with accolades pertaining to genius and messiah and such garbage.....at the same time as castigating Gary O'Neil....that a catastrophic plummeting would occur around February...
...I say Fools...but I myself bordered on Foolish by saying we are definitely Safe..I still think we are...but getting closer to 17th than 10th at the finish is quite possibly the way it pans out.....

But in essence I'm not going to recognise a Title win by Man City or Euro places for the Elites for the reasons surrounding corrupt dealings of whoever is running this Sh*tshow....picking on Everton and Forest and ignoring the other corrupt regimes !
They'll be coming for us soon I reckon.
Tbh ...I don't care if the PL implodes and can't operate at some point.

Losing FA Cup games at home is a guaranteed way to get negativity in a groove.....

not at all, just trying to have a grownups tactical discussion
is that not allowed?
Yawn. Straight in there with the "not allowed" comment.

I was pointing out that your supposedly 'grownup' tactical discussion mainly consists of having a dig at Iraola, in much the same way as Neil fixates on Blake and Hughes.

Or is that 'not allowed'?
