AFC Bournemouth v Luton Town - Wednesday 7.30 pm

Cook is the first name on AIs team sheet. You could argue hes first, second and third with the number of positions that AI chooses him ahead of other players in.

You denying Cook was telling him where to go several times after he came on?

I saw Adams coming in and talking to everyone like he was the captain. Didn't see Cook tell him where to be particularly. Cook has been great but I think Adams will nail that position down. Time will tell.

Wow that was quite the thing! Went straight to pub then fell asleep so a bit late to this party… can’t believe how anyone can end up arguing on a forum after a once in 21 year event but that’s some people I guess!

Reflections… it was a mistake to try and replicate a left side that did well against a Sheff U that were 2-0 up and not attacking and thinking it would work in a whole game. Not often Iraola gets things wrong but he did with that in my opinion especially as Luton’s right side is very strong. We were completely overran. Scott was really poor too he can’t seem to get into a game so we lost the midfield. Set piece management at both ends poor.

Half time saw Luton sit back, that with the introduction of the more physical Tavs made Dango look better, Unal did two things, played well himself and let Solanke drop to be far more physical and involved than Scott. This unsettled Luton.

In the first half Luton didn’t know how many they had to score but in the second half we did and that was the difference in the two half’s. Semenyo was outstanding and bullied them.. I liked the look of Adams on first glance tidy, calm and organising everyone.

I don’t know why people need to reference GON. Yes we wouldn’t have had a comeback like that with him but we wouldn’t have needed to because that Luton side wouldn’t have been 3-0 up against his low block. We can enjoy one managers win or wallow in defeat with no necessary meaning from previous regimes.

All in all… what a night. From despair to jubilation… that’s rock and roll football.

Agree with this.

Tav has had a few poorer games, but the team are often better with him in it. The midfield just didn’t work first half. Scott looked lost in it. That said we were ineffective for most of Saturday’s game with Sheffield and both Tav and Kluivert started. As did Kerkez.

The individual errors were frustrating. Cook looked at his man prior to the cross coming over for the first goal and then didn’t go with him. Second goal both Smith and Dango at fault.

At 0-1 we were saying that, despite us having much of the ball, 0-2 was more likely than 1-2 and same at 0-2.

Solanke once more unsupported. Many aimless passes into space. Cook’s hopeless dinks into the box. Passing from side to side with no effective plan. A perfect ball across the face of goal with no one there to put it in the net.

Oh, and the corners? What is that about. Basic stuff.

So the first half was pretty much a repeat of Saturday with a different line up.

Second half Tav filled the first half gaps and was like midfield glue. Solanke was able to drop deeeper as he knew Ünal was there.

Solanke’s goal was brilliant. He was being fouled initially, shirt pulled. Wonderful flick through to pass to himself.

Semenyo? That’s the third time recently he’s cut in like that.

An amazing night. People who left at half time just don’t understand football.

LOL The guy has been by far our best and most consistent player this season. People on this forum have wanted him dropped for years but he proves them wrong time and again. Damn right I love the guy. Its others who dont understand the job he does who I feel sorry for....and there are plenty on here.

He has been excellent. Mind you he doesn't half let runners from midfield go at times.

What I'm getting is that you've joined the bunch of w@nkers that try to crack me daily / weekly...they never win and nor will you.
I quite enjoy being unpopular you see..f√cking weird I know...but then I don't particularly like the general tone of around half the members..and that goes right back to my first week on what I perceived at the time to be a quite unfriendly and cliquey 'wellcome' .
Not much has changed.
You might have noticed my somewhat cantankerous, come 'socially awkward' and exponentially disengaging persona...the oft times tangential wanderings and rants are testament to that, but it's really an 'Act' developed parallel to a coping mechanism to deal with the aforementioned w@nkers !

I don't think 'intelligence' is part of the equation, either on my part or yours.
You cannot gauge that accurately on a flawed medium such as this...you would need several, real life, face to face meetings for that I'd say...or maybe just an hour if your experienced in psychological matters or ideally of that profession.
me me me me me,

Not sure I've fully processed it all yet, but some jumbled thoughts:

Obviously we got it wrong first half, again. There was no one thing you could point at, it seemed a combination of individual errors in a moment, and a lack of balance and intensity to the side generally. A lot of parallels with Saturday performance wise.

Some of last night I'd put down to the Dango/Sinisterra experiment, which can stay as a risky option when chasing a game, but maybe shouldn't be used as a starting pair. If we start with Dango at LB again then a sturdier wide man in front of him such as Tav would be better.

Scott seems to be going backwards at the moment unfortunately. It'll need time. Solanke had no support from central or wide areas first half. Luton were able to play with everything in front of them, we had nothing in behind to turn them around.

Semenyo and Unal coming in to offer bodies around Dom changed everything. Interesting to see Dom resume the deeper role that we haven't seen so much of in recent years. He caused chaos there. Unal gets into pockets of space and has the technique to find players, when given close support he looks good.

Good to see Tavernier come on and look better.

Loved Semenyo's first finish. Hit early and low, give the keeper a test. Something many forwards can learn from IMHO instead of taking extra touches and over-thinking things. His second I thought had been saved initially, it took me a moment to realise the keeper's touch was a bit soft and it was in (powerful strike as ever from Antoine).

All in all a strange but famous night, to add to many of those under the DC lights down the years. Clearly there is character and heart in this team, and no little quality.

90 minute performances have been very rare if any this season but it's certainly entertaining and here we are sat with survival all but confirmed in March.

Unlike you NOC to make it all about you after a fantastic comeback win.
It wasn't my only post of the evening...much other reflection given ... away from myself...but if you want to keep the onus on me with your response...that's your look out...and likely to keep me spouting .. I'm surprised some have not learnt the lesson by now.
Let people have their say...or just skip it...ignore it. Simple.
And that is THE only way this Nation will get anywhere near back to former glory ..by allowing free speech, tenacity, wit and guile of it's inhabitants...ditch the Woke and PC.

End of. Fullstop

Yeah the first half last night was not his best...but he was also being asked to man mark, something I am not sure he showed he is terribly good at...

I think (hope) Adams finally reaching fitness will give us a real boost in the middle whether he forces his way in or not. Cook will have to be on his game to keep his place and that will be very good for us if he does.

There's no rush to break up Cook and Christie, but it's nice to have someone else who can save their legs and prevent them playing 100 minutes constantly.

The inability of Lewis Cook, such a technically talented player and once a captain of England Youth...to impose himself in a more commanding way and even having a crack at scoring a goal is one of the all -time mysteries of the Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletics History .
You just want him to come out of that shell...and even propel himself into a full England debut.
He was that much of a prospect...but OK the awful injury situation he endured probably is a factor in his subdued existence over every 95 minutes...if we know that..then we understand I guess...maybe Andoni can eventually help him up a notch !
