Gary O'Neil

I don’t think you need to be sensitive. If anyone went on tv after a 1 goal win against ten men thanks to a late keeper error and talked about their tactics winning the game I’d have a right good laugh at them. The only thing that stops me in this situation is it was my club that got beat.

Was probably the first interview he did.

It was a narrow victory on paper, but for O'Neil it was a chance to gloat, one which he accepted gleefully.

Had he beaten us 3-0 then it would have held some substance.

Gary claimed he 'out thought' AFCB tactics.

It was a very slim win against 10 men.

But he couldn't wait to laud it, and big up the achievement.....in the media nonetheless.

Let's hope Andoni smashes Wolves next game.......

And guess what, Andoni wouldn't make a thing of it, as he has class.
Maybe after a decent season, if Ai was shown the door then he might not be very happy either!

I’m going to tidy this thread up a bit as it hasn’t been the Gary O’Neil thread for about 6 pages…

Narcissism has no place in society.

Why do you feel a need to 'tidy up' a thread?

Different threads take different journeys.

Moving threads around, completely removes the context in which they were being discussed.

What on earth are you doing on a football forum, moving threads around?

Let a thread organically run its course.

Why wouldn't you allow that DJ?

I did…that’s why it got to 6 pages. But eventually I think the time comes to tidy it up, so it makes more sense.

It also enables more debate and conversation. For example, that thread moved from Lerma, to Adams, to Solanke. Having those conversations separate leads to more conversation as someone might want to comment on Adams but won’t because it’s been lost in a flurry of debate over Solanke.

I’m not trying to get you to agree Dragon as I know you won’t. Just explaining why I made the decisions I do and why others complain and use the report function about it.

It's not your decision to make you Muppet.

You have the power to make it, therefore you do...... Descartes.

That's narcissistic.

Can you not allow threads to run their own course?

Why on earth do you need to interrupt the flow of a thread just because it mentions a name already mentioned in a different one.

It is not cool.

Michael Jackson in 1986 is a different discussion to Michael Jackson 2024.

Do you 'tidy it up' because the same name is mentioned twice.........the answer is no, because the discussion has an entirely different context.

Don't play God......it suits nobody.

Yeah right, so the guy who got rid re-employs him at his new club
Richard Hughes I thought started his job there next season and this season is still employed by AFCB.

So surely can’t have a say at the moment in Liverpool appointments.

Fenway Sports Group head of football Michael Edwards, assisted by newly-appointed Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, has been tasked with pinpointing the new boss, with it understood for some time the hierarchy are willing to pursue a manager who would best fit the revamped structure of the club rather than merely be the popular choice. The Reds won't shy from making an unexpected decision.

With Julian Nagelsmann, another name mentioned early on, committing his long-term future to the Germany national team, the early contenders appear to be slowly being removed from the conversation.

That, then, goes some way to explaining the raft of new names that have emerged in recent days. Feyenoord's Arne Slot was mentioned over the weekend, while Gary O'Neil of Wolves has also had tentative links, not least having worked previously with both Liverpool at the Academy and as Bournemouth boss when Hughes was at the South Coast side. And Thomas Tuchel, who succeeded Klopp at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, has also gained some traction.

I'm not sure how X works but I imagine it is something like, one Everton or Wolves fan puts on a Liverpool account "I hear it's Gary O'Neil for the Kop job". This is then followed by thousands of Liverpool fans tweeting "Gary O'neil??? No fecking way" ( or something along those lines). Thus Gary O'Neil is trending

And touted for AC Milan:)

Next manager odds at Liverpool. AI even makes the top 8.

Football is weird sometimes but I can't see GON at Liverpool. His safety first approach would not go down there well and he doesn't have anything like the profile their fans would expect.
