Lloyd Kelly

Gosh doesn't seem like he's been here 5 years tbh.

Good move imo. Newcastle clearly want to become a top 6 mainstay. Given ffp restrictions, represents good business/value imo. No doubt he's getting a decent signing off, but going by spurs bid... picking him up for fraction of his value, and perhaps what similar quality player would cost if they didn't g for Kelly

Better than going to one of the current elites and barely playing. Particularly if manager decides he doesn't rate him.

Whereas howe knows all about him, what he brings to the table and that he can transition into style he's deploying. Odds of move being a success much higher and realistically not sure Kelly could ask for a better move, if he's interested in career progression, game time and vhance to grow and be part of something special.

I don’t agree that he’s really stepped up this season, if anything I think he’s been poorer this season than last. Quite possibly impacted by the rumours surrounding his future.

He’s made quite a few individual errors that have led to goals this season:

-Spurs at home, making no attempt to play the ball on the second goal and being completely unaware of the run of the goal scorer.

-West Ham away, getting easily beaten and then clumsily bringing down his opponent to concede a penalty.

-Fulham away, letting Reid run off of him for the second goal and completely losing flight of the ball.

-Newcastle away, losing Ritchie at the far post for the equaliser. He did slip, but the reason that he slipped was due to having to quickly readjust due to his initial poor positioning and body shape.

-Luton away, coming out of position and then being very weak in a 50/50 tackle. Ball then runs to Luton player in the space that Kelly vacated who then scored.

I know all players make mistakes, but given the amount of games that Kelly has been unavailable for, that seems like an awful lot to me! Like I’ve said before he is great when defending in a high line, but he is a bit of a liability when he has to defend his own box. His concentration levels and awareness are not great at all. He’ll probably be great at Newcastle given how high they push their back line though.

me too but sounds like we upped our offer and did all we could to keep hold of him
if he can do better elsewhere, good luck to him
Once a player is in the last year of the contract, the money on offer is ridiculous given that the new club don’t have to pay a transfer fee. Didn’t someone on here say Lerma increased his wages massively and got an £8million signing on bonus? May have misremembered the figure, but it was a huge amount particularly in a profession where careers can be short.

Take a bow Marc Bosman.

I think Kelly is an excellent player, but I also think Zabarnyi and Senessi are both better than him.
Kerkez on his day (like against Man Utd) is brilliant, but is far too inconsistent (like Kelly prior to this season), I think he plays much better with Sini than Tav.
Kelly is in the form of is life, he deserves to at least get 90 minutes in a friendly for England. We saw how utterly sh!' Maguire is last Saturday and he starts every game for England. England's left backs are also complete and utter bollokcs.
Has Southgate watched us once in the last 2 years? There seems to be a bit of a "too big to watch Bournemouth" mentality with him.
A lot of talk about Dom getting in the England set up (rightfully so), but he has Kane, Watkins and Toney who are all just about above him. Whereas, apart from Stones, I don't think any left back or centre back for England is above Kelly at the moment. Maybe we need to make a bit of noise about it even if he isn't going to be a Bournemouth player when the tournament kicks off.

People have made loads of noise about Kelly tbf. Mostly booing but still.

Amazing really to think he’s probably, as you say, on the cusp of an England call up, but he’s arguably not first choice for Bournemouth.

He’s going to cost a lot to replace but it doesn’t look like there’s any persuading him to stay. A real shame as I think he’s a class act. But it’s his prerogative and he’s stayed professional which is all we can ask.
