A338 - relevant

Went around 12.30 pm yesterday over the Avon Causeway towards Bournemouth thinking it wouldn’t be so busy, started queuing before reaching Matchams Lane.

In the end we went via Hurn to Parley and into Bournemouth.

I recently discovered this when looking to see when it all finishes.

NINE months of work on a new sliproad to the A338 Spur Road will start as soon as the current project is finished.
Motorists looking forward to the planned completion date in June will have no respite before construction starts on the Blackwater West sliproad.

The works will be carried out between June and March, the Daily Echo understands.

Tony Brown, chief executive of Beales – who criticised the disruption to trade caused by last year’s roadworks – said: “I think it’s incredibly disappointing that they’re planning to disrupt a second Christmas for Bournemouth town centre.
“I would have thought that the lessons learned from the disruption to Christmas trade last year would have stopped them.
“I don’t know whether it’s necessary or not but fundamentally to disrupt two Christmases on the trot is immensely disappointing.”
Cllr Daryl Turner, cabinet member for the natural and built environment at Dorset County Council, said: “We’re not happy with the disruption but it’s a necessary part of the process. It’s got to be done I’m afraid.”
Work started this week to clear land in advance of the Blackwater West works.
Vegetation and tree clearance will take around six weeks to complete and will take place in the area of the Blackwater West on-slip road, where there will be road widening and where the cycleway will be widened into the verge along Christchurch Road.
Screening will be put in place for local residents.

Pity the Fulham supporters that don’t know about the roadworks. There was nothing on our website and AFCB hadn’t thought to put it in their away fans guide published on Fulham’s website
