Sounds like a really decent bloke - a very worthwhile and generous thing to do in the summer. I'd sign him up on the basis of this alone!

....just goes to show how we can wrongly judge people sometimes without knowing the truth behind things?

He was a good footballer at Spurs, and at the time I was surprised that he was moved on. He had potential which culminated in winning an England cap...I hope that he can focus on his abilities on the pitch and return to his best, if he does he will play in The PL again one day?
