Blast from The Past

One of the best days work I ever did was cutting down the metal fences that caged us all into the South End.whilst I was doing it I watched Harry on the pitch selling the club to Jimmy Quinn . Best of all I spent tea breaks sitting with Kirky in his cubby hole under the main stand. What a legend !

Do you know what game that was?

From the sunsetting and the floodlights coming on I would say it was a Saturday game about February 2001 . So I reckon take your pick from Colchester and Walsall - both 2-2 draws.
If it was Walsall we had the rare spectacle of a goal by a certain Eddie Howe and the other by some bloke called Defoe, who would have ever thought EH would be managing Defoe at AFCB 17 years later !!!

I'm pretty sure the match in question is Wycombe Wanderers 23rd April 2001, an evening game. Second but last game at Dean Court.

@retro red.

From memory I think this was 1982 and was part of some sort of Boscombe Carnival taking place in the July of that year the day after we had played at Bath City in a friendly and we had managed to attract the attentions of the Avon&Somerset mounted branch (So much so we made the Sunday Express).

I was with my mates outside San Remo Towers and the bus was stuck in traffic, Tommy and Kevin Dawltry were within spitting distance and asked me if I had been on the pitch the previous day, I sheepishly admitted I had been and Tommy threw me his shirt, complete with a white sash sewn across the sponsors name, which he had worn in the last league game against Hereford.
