I read this yesterday but have to admit I don't really understand what it means to the UK day-to-day. The article suggests it will affect the tax take but doesn't give any details. Presumably moving the assets won't affect tax but new business from the EU will effectively take place outside UK tax area?
 
...here's one...why don't we develop our own manufacturing instead of relying on other countries to bail us out?

surely the whole idea of cutting ourselves free of The EU was to give jobs to us british folk...and not have any johnny foreigners here....I am afraid that as a race we are often too myopic and insular...hence this mess..

I was more focusing on the timing of it. Why 1 min before. Wouldn't they be aware a day or two days before B day? I mean, do they think it will come down to the last hour and a magic solution created?

I do not have any opinion regarding the tax being paid, or due to be paid.

Like I say I don't know a thing about this stuff but I took it as a legal requirement for assets that back these financial products to be in the EU. Plenty of these movements seem to be fairly nominal exercises that don't really impact on jobs but this one seems like it might be significant in terms of tax revenue - although that may just be the way it's written.

David Cameron made a late effort to stop three MPs defecting from the Conservative Party to join the newly formed Independent Group, it has been reported.

Anna Soubry, Sarah Wollaston and Heidi Allen quit the Tories yesterday to join the eight Labour MPs who resigned earlier this week. In a statement, the three Remain-supporting MPs said: “Brexit has redefined the Conservative Party - undoing all the efforts to modernise it.”

Later, Soubry told The Times Red Box podcast that Cameron had sent a message to the MPs as they prepared to announce their defection, asking: “Is it too late to persuade you to stay?”

So, again I have very little understanding here, is your conservative party losing their minds? I was a Republican in the US (our conservative party) but now have to be registered a Democrat because I can no longer identify with our current republican party which is full blown Taliban in terms of religion, Now loves Russia and wants to rule the world with them, and only looks out for the wealthiest of the wealthy.
