Shoddy and Tired

...regular theme here?

can't really say players are tired...just taht some are slowing down and are quite obviously not good enough at this level anymore..

Daniels, Gosling and Surman being good examples of decent Championship level players now...but not up to the rigors and quick thinking of The PL.

Unless Eddie injects some more energy into our team and players who have the nous to react quicker we will struggle to reach a stable position in the top ten, and eventually we will go down.

It often amazes me how we look sluggish in challenges and show a lack of instinctive reaction in games, the only answer can be that we don't have the necessary players to fit a more combative style...like a Joe Allen or a Harry Arter type at their peak...Lerma is obviously struggling with his discipline in tackling and until he can time his tackles better he will often look in two minds in games.

Eddie Howe must address our poor poor away form and needs to dissect his tactical set up to be more effective in these matches.

Priorities for next season for me would be;

Goalkeeper (Pope or Butland would do fine)
Right Back (Not Clyne though, although decent types are hard to find)
Left Back ( Tierney from Celtic?)
Central Midfield (Mason Mount or Ruben Loftus Cheek)
Wing Back (James from Swansea would be ideal IMO)

I didn’t mean replace JT. I meant leave him as a first team coach but go get a number 2 who has experience of different formations and plans to play between the lines.

Alex Ferguson stayed at the top by adapting constantly bringing in new right hand men constantly who understood new trends.

Maybe he should have ‘got a grip’ and kept the same bloke for twenty years?
We've been though this before Neil....Alex Ferguson never got rid of any no.2 ....they all left too go into management....to say it was a deliberate ploy by Fergie is misleading.

Not true. Look at his comments about head hunting Carlos Queroz to teach him how to play a more European style in Europe.

Queroz is widely credited of being the brains behind the United team of the mid / late 2000’s with the attacking trio of Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo. I’m not sure Fergie would have got the same out of them had he stuck with his standard 4-4-2 he’d employed over the years.

Daniels, Gosling, Surman, Ibe and Begovic need to be sold simply not good enough. Few other squad players and others out on loan that should be sold aswell so we can try and claw back some of the ridiculous money we've wasted on average players. Club would also be mad not to accept £35m+ for Wilson, King is a better striker end of story.

It was obvious from the first whistle that we would struggle with two versus three in midfield but with no other midfielders on the bench we couldn't really change it.

Come on Neil....Fergie Head Hunted Carlos Queroz because McClaren buggered off to manage Boro.....Fergie didn't intentionally replace Brian Kidd, Steve McClaren or Carlos Queroz ....he was immensely loyal to his staff.

Even when we do have options we always seem to stick with the two ...

We undoubtedly need a couple of players but injuries have hit us really hard this year- we really miss Smith's energy but the inability to name the same side 2 games running is a factor in our bad form
Only six away goals scored in twelve matches is desperately poor and the performances have matched this ...

If Wilson had scored the gult edeged chance in the first half it may have been different, but for me the key points were:
Daniels was exposed time and again. He's been a top player for us but can't cut it at this level any more.
Gosling was under too much pressure throughout and couldn't find a forward pass at all.
Lerma was immense first half but spends the whole time firefighting.
Where were the runs down the channels? A couple of times Fraser got behind but its criminal that Morgan can stroll through a game when faced with the pace of Wilson, King, Fraser and Brookes.

Spot on. The games greatest managers adapt constantly. Eddie Howe is the greatest Bournemouth manager. I have always believed if he is to become one of the games greats he has to open himself to more influences than the players he played with. I have had a lot of stick for saying it on here before but to me it’s quite obvious we are one dimensional. Brilliantly so at times but one dimensional none the less.

...things have got better this season, certainly in the early part, but I watch sometimes and we don't look like we know what we (the players) should be doing in some matches? If in doubt pass it back or sideways?...back in our championship days we would penetrate defences much better with little triangle passes and players running behind defenders...but now we look static and ponderous and short of ideas?...This has to be something that Howe can influence and change?

That’s his job - but the players at times don’t seem to want to fight to make something happen , the attitude/mentality Eddie has mentioned a few times now ....
Apart from a few standout performances where everything clicks the rest of the time we look well short ...
Worrying.

Ive actually started to think that im slightly.... ummm....well I never really did get a grip on football Understandment!

To come back off holiday....and be ' tired and shoddy'.....I mean....ffs.....and Callum who wasnt on holiday..but only played 15 minutes or so v the Montenegros.....and then that was being match fit too on return !
I'm waiting for someone to say it wasnt a holiday and the wags didnt go to Dubai !

Midfield. Midfield. Midfield. Midfield.

We cannot persist with 4-4-2 with only Lerma as a PL standard central midfielder. We get smashed in that department week after week after week.

It's becoming irritating.
This this this. We now have a mass of defenders and forwards but have severe lack of quantity and quality in midfield. If we make 3 signings in the summer all midfielders for me. Think you need 4 or 5 1st team quality in the squad. Bet we sign 3 wingers though.
Today was dreadful. And appalling performance. Only Ake and Mepham come out with any credit.
