[QUOTE="beds cherry, post: 286665, member: 538Paul McGrath? All Villa fans I know vote him as their best ever defender.[/QUOTE]

You're right but I never saw him play, in the flesh as it were, and it was also a different era.

I’d say there might be scope for letting Jack have a 6 month loan but it’ll depend on whether we need to trim the squad to get inside the 25 man limit and if any injuries get picked up in pre-season.

Kelly will cover LB in a back 4 and also LCB in a back 3.

Ake, Kelly LCB
Cook Simpson CB
Mepham, Francis RCB

Rico, Daniels LWB
Smith, Stacey RWB
...out of those listed here I can't see Franno, Chaz, Simpson or Rico being regulars in the first team...I hope taht both Kelly and Stacey can energise the defence and establish themselves?...Smith is versatile and I can see him being pushed forward as an attacking wing back?...essential that we keep Ake and develop Mepham to rotate with Cook IMO...

If you can’t take a bit of banter, you shouldn’t log onto other teams forums.

To be honest, for what TM inferred about our club and the medical staff, I think he’s getting off lightly from our supporters.
No mate banter is banter THAT was just awful wishing a player hurt should be ashamed of yourself

..I have no wish to see Mings get injured (although he will) and really hope that he does a job for Villa...he is quite obvioulsy a complicated character and just didn't fit in with the boss here....que sera...sera...

you've never (inwardly or outwardly) been glad when one of the oppo's gone down injured? I've done that for some of our own players in the past! Despite being a greenie lefty sandal wearing hippie, I obviously have a large evil streak in me. I admire your wholesomeness.

Some players make a fit in some don't,either way I love that fact he says what he means and for us last season gave 100% can't comment what he was like for your team.

Last season we was looking at administration we couldn't even pay 4m to the taxman this season spent close to 70m on players.i just hope it don't turn around and bite us on the ass.oh well we will enjoy the roller coaster.

Not sure 26m is really that much today.
If we paid 8m in 2015, is 26m really much of a "profit" in terms of today's values?

Think we got an excellent deal and £18.5 million profit.

Our fans never really got to see him play for our club, but while he was here he mixed with the fans for a kickabout at Littledown.

Good luck to him and hope he has more fortune on the injury front than he did at AFCB.
