Do you think Eddie should go

Maybe not all fans want the team to go down or if they do show some damn fight! This pathetic obsession with the olden days and the glory days of bottom feeding in league 2 whilst we scraped together a couple of quid to survive another few weeks isn't where any of us want to be! The 'fans' you moan about have the same passion and love for the team that anyone else has! One of these newer fans is my devastated 10 year old son who's gone to bed in the foulest mood and absolutely fcking distraught! But let's keep the same manager bring back pugh and pitman 2 players who couldn't get a sniff at lower league clubs and allow the happy clappers who sit on their hands each game get all nostalgic and weepy eyed!

Yeah Yeah because we have a god given right to be in the PL haven't we?....fck the manager who got us here.... lets get someone better in...

It’s not an obsession with the olden days, but at least we often saw players giving a toss despite the fact that their skills were limited.

As for your pathetic sarcasm further down, nobody is seriously saying that Pugh and Pitman should be brought back, but you can’t blame people from harking back to players who gave us joy when you compare to the current shower.

And would I rather be in a league we have a chance of success in or not? I’d thought over the last four years that the PL was still the place to be, but I’ve absolutely hated this season.

But however bad it’s been, I still think we owe Eddie a chance to get us back up if he wants the challenge. Talk of sacking him smacks of complete short-termism and a total lack of gratitude for someone who’s given me most of the top ten football days of my life

I don’t think you’re stance is that controversial at all, if he isn’t going to be around then it ‘might’ be beneficial for us to start to rebuild for next season. Get ready for dogs abuse though, even the mere mention of questioning Eddie’s position will have you labeled as not a true fan by certain others.
Yeah, guess so. God dogs abuse from the wife for saying it! I stress, If he isn’t going to be here next season!!!! Do we not think those conversations have taken place and there is at least a gentleman’s agreement in place that he will or won’t stick around. I wouldn’t blame him at all for wanting some time away and I’m more than grateful for all he has done, believe me.

If your answer is “yes definitely” or “no never” then you are too one eyed which ever side of the fence you sit on.

Lets be honest, at most other clubs he’d be gone and he could have no real complaints. His recent failings don’t change the job he has done for this club. For that reason it’s difficult to argue he doesn’t deserve the chance to get us back up. Or even engineer another miracle in what’s left of this season.

If I were the board, I’d ask Eddie if he is committed for at least one season in the Championship and if he believes he is capable of doing what he did before.

If the answer to either question is no, then I think we make the change now. That way, we allow a new manager to assess the squad ahead of next season. Or maybe even get a 6 game new manager bounce this season.

We are sleep walking to the Championship under Eddie. That doesn’t mean he has to go now. But he has to want to stay regardless of what division we are in.

Eddie should see the season out and then move on. Will probably be good for him as he's taken us as far as we can go.

The circumstances of our rise were unique. Brink of disaster and having to pull together. Building a team of misfits and cast offs built an energy, a spirit and momentum. That will never be repeated.

Eddie achieved something extraordinary. Truly magnificent. Keeping us in the PL for 5 seasons is a miracle.

But managing in the PL is very different. I have written before about the management changes in this division. It is hard to stay up for more than a couple of seasons without changing manager, outside the established 7. Even they change managers.

Would I want to join the merry go round of managers? Sam, Moyes, etc. No. I really wouldn't. Staying in this division isn't that important to me. I want to see exciting games of football. 11 players giving their all. If that happens I don't care if they win, lose or draw. I haven't enjoyed the overall premier league experience. I have loved some games and enjoyed seeing some of the best players in the world. But defining success as finishing 17th? Not for me.

If (?) We go down we will never come up again in my view. Do I care? Not a jot.

The children (and others) in tears? They'll get over it. No one supports a team long term that is conditional on success. It's in your blood or it isn't. It's your team or it isn't.

There are many on this board who will be there whatever division we're in. There are some that were planning a phoenix club when we were on the brink.

Those are the real fans. Thick and thin fans. The ones that help out when needed.

Eddie will go when he feels he can do no more. Whatever he does, we will not see his like again. We have been privileged in the same way that Liverpool fans were with shankley and United fans with Busby and Ferguson. A manager that loves the club so much it hurts.

Whatever happens he is a legend.
We are not worthy.
