Genuine replacements?

Gather more facts on JT

Weymouth wasn't the failure we want it to be.

JT clearly took the Weymouth job almost by accident, learned a lot that had helped us and since then has be working on improving his coaching skills. The UEFA badge means he had had to learn from managers outside of the club in much more recent years than Eddie, will have different experiences to draw on, as does Stephen Purches.

If Graham Potter for example got his badge a year later and could successfully take over Hughton's squad, why is it not possible that JT who is equally qualified can't do the same with us.

Just maybe, the statements about "a new direction" is cleverly worded blessing to whomever, including JT, to make changes. It should not be interpreted as radical necessarily.

His playing career wasn't too dissimilar to Tony P, similar give it all style. Tony did alright as a top flight boss.

In the same way we all want Sam Surridge to be given his chance, JT deserves his.

I thought that also - JT could have very different ideas as to the running of the team , style , players etc - a new direction indeed ....

For what it’s worth I would be over the moon if JT was given the job
He will have his own style knows how the club works and best of all as a coach knows our players and what they are capable of
He will also know where we need to strengthen if we are to progress
Only my opinion chaps.

I think we're starting to weed out the "let's throw anyone's name into the hat" candidates, and start to see the genuine contenders... If it's possible I reckon they will try to get the new man will be in by early next week, to give them time to settle before the team come back... In no order of priority

Scott Parker
Jason Tindall
Chris Hughton
Lee Johnson
John Terry

For me there is a strong chance it will be one of the above purely based on the fact their names have come from strong sources, or have been in the running since the beginning and consistently towards the top of the bookies' list.. I can't get my head around the thought of John Terry being our manager... Don't like the guy at all...

Interesting week ahead...

Just as a matter of interest.......does the job get advertised?....do they wait for interested parties to get in touch ?.......are certain people approached ?

That’s a good question and one that I was wondering. Then the appropriate candidates would have to be interviewed

I would have hoped the club had been preparing for this potential eventuality and had been tracking options. Then they could approach their number one target and additionally consider any other applications they receive. Leaving it to the luck of who might be available on the open market is a real crapshoot.

I am not going to go back on wanting to give JT a chance, but if we had to look outside the club then the person we need to go get is Paul Simpson, in whatever capacity he is available.

He's managed a winning England world cup team, has had success managing Lewis and Dom, would have the respect and technical ability to bring on a young crop of players. If I was Eddie, I would have had him on speed dial for the last year as someone get advice on those two alone

With the likely restrictions on internationals for U20's surely we could borrow him for a year, and maybe Eddie could even slot into his role to get some new perspectives, as well as pursue his ambitions within the FA heirarchy.

Yet no-one ever mentions Simpson's name when jobs come up.

Mainly because we remember that he wasn’t very special at Shrewsbury and Stockport about ten years ago and hasn’t managed a club since unless I’m mistaken?!
