Brad Smith

That was a cracking use of....

£6m (if you ask me)
£23k, a set of tracksuits and first dibs on Jordan Ibe (if you ask @DJ )

or maybe somewhere in between.....:grinning:

Nice to see we're clearing the decks.

Sky said this when he signed.....

Sky sources understand Smith will join for an initial fee of around £3m fee that could rise to £6m, including add-ons and bonuses.

Interested in what add ons or bonuses he got...anyone ?

edit SDD beat me to it

Do you reckon there's any chance at all that Brad Smith triggered any performance related clauses? There's no chance we gave them £6m for him.
I'm really struggling to think of a clause he may have activated in his time here SDD. Parking his car exactly between the lines of his parking space 20 times prior to training ???

Judging by performances over recent years there's every chance they had a clause requiring them to play like sh*t in FA cup 3rd round games and he definitely did that.

£6m for Neil's purposes then - which are definately not trying to skew all possible evidence to make Howe look as bad as possible. Oh no.

He wasn’t good in the end but I find it hard to muster up negativity towards someone who’s just not good. Can imagine he’ll probably be getting pelters on Social media. It’s not like he never “tried” in the cup games, he’s just not a good player. I usually reserve actual disdain for people who are good and don’t put the effort in. Like ickle wee Ryan.

Bewildering signing ... looked less like professional footballer than anyone seen in an AFCB shirt in recent years. Who at the club advocated bringing him to DC? Are they still in post???

If you add any wages paid by us or any club be played for on loan you could claim it was £10million. I think that's how it works for players that weren't good signings?

You add on an extra million for each year for bad signings and deduct £1m a year for good signings.

Brad Smith was £7m, Ibe £19m and Solanke currently £21m. Luckily Lerma is now only £23m and Brooks £10m

Saw him play for Seattle a couple of times and he was rated as one of their top players. Looked fit and got up and down the pitch really welI. I know its only the US "soccer" league but he seemed well at home there. Probably end up there.

Joking aside (which I was) nobody on here ever takes money off the price we get for our players which means I presume it’s only us that do staggered deals. We don’t question the 12m we got for Afobe and the 8m we got for Grabban. They become ‘great deals’ with the case paid straight into the bank. Our deals though are a fraction of what the media quote with lots of add ons.

While we are talking about biased views....

But in this case there were multiple reports as to the price suggesting £6m was a 'rising to' figure.

People knew that Mings went for £20m rising to £26m. Now we don't know what the clauses were but I'd say with surviving in the PL, playing loads of games and being capped for England that the actual fee is nearer £26m than £20m as things stand. Brad Smith? Not so much.
