Coventry - The Verdict

Was at BS '90-'97. We were mainly terrified of Summerbee, Porchester and of our parents becoming unemployed. Lost count of how many kids I knew had dads in prison for tax fraud.

Hoorah. We've made some new best friends forever in Coventry.

I really don't get this. The yellow for a push to the body, red for contact with the face has been a rule for a long time. This isn't some shock new development by which their player was caught off-guard and unprepared.

Bad tackles to stop a breakaway resulting in a yellow. Well yes, something that Coventry would never resort to. You'd never have seen them do that until after they've played the dementors of AFC Bournemouth.

Players squaring up after a bad challenge and backing their team mate? Again, the Sauron-like qualities of the Cherries have forever tainted the Tinkerbells of Coventry with this.

What complete and utter tosh.

Raise your hands to the face you get sent off. That's the rule. Bleat all you like, there's nobody to blame but the player in question. In fact, they should count themselves lucky as we settled after that. If we'd have carried on playing it would have been 4 or 5 against for them.

Bit disappointing that an official reporter would publish an 'article' like this. Agree with all the points you mentioned. If Steve Cook had fallen to the floor like Lamela yesterday, I would have slammed him for doing so but he just stood up, as he should. It's not right to be blaming us for any part in this at all, it's down to the officials to decide the right course of action.

Scummerbee you mean :grinning: Didn't have any dealings with Porchester

My years were 83-90 at BS. I know you were Hillview too like me - my mates mum was a dinner lady there.

I was Hillview from 1950-56. Loved the school, Mr Gillete (?) the head. Then went to East Howe and RAF Seletar in Singapore in 57. 6 day week but mornings only there. Swimming most afternoons and clambering around the Sunderland flying boats that were being scrapped.

My daughter now goes to Glenmoor and can assure you all that it's improved beyond belief to what we remember it as it was. In fact their exam results now compare nicely to BSG,in some cases even better.
Funny story,my daughters year head recognized her surname and asked if she was related to me.How he remembers me from nearly forty years ago beats me,given he was a year below me.Must have done something that earned me a reputation, God knows what.
