New Kings Park Stadium

AlGard - 30/12/2015 07:11

Shall I post this again.
Oh go on then!

This stadium (see Al's pic on page 3) is in Debrecen Hungary and has been open for nearly 3 years now. I went there at the beginning of Last season and thought it would be perfect for us.
It is actually located in a park not dissimilar to Kings Park, which was re landscaped along with water features etc at the same time as the stadium was built.
The turnstiles are located at a high level walkway, accessed by ramps, all around the perimeter of the stadium so you access the stands either half way up or right at the back. The main stand is maybe twice.the size.of the.one opposite and slopes slowly down around each end to create a bowl effect.
The outside of the.stadium is largely camouflaged by the trees but looks really effective when lit up in red at night.
I cannot comment on the atmosphere as there was only 7000 in there, (it holds 20000 I think) but i like it.

OK... So we're now two-thrids through January and possibly past the date of being able to sort something for next year 'regardless' of league...

Al, ages ago you posted, hinting that you knew something about the americans, their plans, and structadene...

This is not a dig, but what has happened to this news...????!??!?!??!??!?! We have heard zero on this to date and the silence is scary, and looking more and more likely that we're going to be stuck in our 11k home for the foreseeable...

Any updates at all???

Someone really needs to get a list of dates and promises from the club and present them in an open letter.

It must be almost 3 years in the pipeline now, longer if you think about Mitchell's attempts to buy the ground.

I guess they're still struggling to make sure they can sell beer at the ground.

Al posted about an imminent anoucnement. Then posted pictures and made an anouncmemt himself about the Hungry style stadium, hoping it would gloss his usual duff info from the team coach driver.

Had a random search through instagram for #afcb and came across these pics... thought at first I'd stumbled on genuine designs for new stadium that had been accidentally leaked, but I think it's more wishful thinking from a CAD/architect student.

Easy to have a pop at Al on this.

To be fair anyone who makes claims that they are either unable to back up or turn out to be incorrect makes themselves a very easy target.

I thought the news from Al was that the Americans had been in talks regarding buying the ground back. But so had Mitchell, so that's hardly impressive.

Anyway nothing's happening for next season, either. As per this year, a decision had to be made in December / January and again we don't know what division we'll be playing in yet. Ditto 17/18 and 18/19 and 19/20 and 20/21 and...well, you get the drift. Priority is staying in the Premier League, you understand.

I share the same concerns as above. We seem to have had a few wind up posts hinting at something really positive regarding stadium expansion or new build but the club doesn't appear to have made any movement towards development. Mostyn couldn't give a crap, he gets a free bottle of champagne every Saturday whatever happens, but in truth things will only change if Max wants it to. You also have to ask why have the Americans got involved? I am sure they are aware we can't grow as a club or business while stuck in a league 1 stadium. I had a look at some pics of the Debrecen stadium and something similar would be perfect for us. I quite like the difference in height of the main stands.
Finally, I was in the Littledown centre last week and was hugely encouraged by the number of youngsters wearing their AFCB kits. Whatever happens with Demin and the Yanks, these kids are the future of our club and we will eventually lose them if they keep getting denied an opportunity to see their team.

Glad to hear it. I used to be at the Littledown every week with my youngest 10 years ago. He was the only one wearing a Bournemouth top, out of 60!!!

Bloody amazing can we have one like that but to house 30000,
Great for concerts and other means of revenue to help the finances :please?!:

Decision on South Stand March/April...?

Without any plans to build new / relocate I reckon it will be an expanded temp south stand for next season. Planning for the last one was passed within 4 weeks (Jun/ July).

Filling the corners in at the North stand might follow if the club plan on staying.

If the club were looking at relocating any time soon, someone somewhere would have leaked it. You simply cant build a new stadium in an area like this without a big sh it storm brewing, no matter what the location.

To build on Sandman's comment, it's not just kids, there's plenty of adults who have to put a lot of effort into the outside chance of getting a ticket, although now I imagine if you've not got 4 or so points you are totally frozen out.

I can't imagine they'll have any real positive feelings towards the club if the Premier League period ends.
