Thierry Henry

I was surprised to learn they're still a thing! Here they are at Britbowl33 in the BAFA Division 2 South Final in 2019. I won't give away the result in case anyone wants to watch it!

They disbanded after the 90s and then reformed in the early 2010s. I was one of the players during that time and can proudly boast of catching the first touchdown of the new era!

Oh dear. Well, as Rob has said, we have to back him to the hilt. If he has Wenger on the end of a phone, that may help too.

From a budgetary perspective, given Derby have enjoyed lots of air time after putting Rooney in place and thus, more TV money, expect all our games to be televised and a massive wankfest, should be make the semis of the cup; so that takes care of any monetary concerns (assuming he really is getting a big salary, any proof of this?).

...must admit though the worst kept secrets often come true...so I am expecting Henry to be appointed in the next week...might as well as we are struggling at the moment 6th in The Championship and QF of The FA Cup?????

Not sure what will happen under the frenchman but just hope that we keep Woody on as back up (and defensive coach!)

Let's be honest TH will have many connections in the game and would probably attract players to us?

How long before we see other gallic persons on board...

Al Gard ?

If we haven't yet actually spoken to Henry, as some reports suggest....then there might be much of what he hears, doesn't like and decides No Thanks !..I.e. Budgets and Salary and stuff concerning who he is allowed to bring with him etc.

So I’m confused. Did Henry apply? Does he need to ask his clubs permission before applying? We apparently have been interviewing for the past 10 days - have they not met the criteria and why haven’t we interviewed Henry yet if so? Seems a little confusing....

Been one or two contradictory stories re this.

The club have been very good at playing the cards close to their chest, hence different reports, rumours everyday.

It will all come out in the wash.

The way it's going the line up is like the masked singer. We don't know who we've interviewed and said yes to until they take the mask off.

It's become a joke and turning AFCB into a laughing stock. I keep thinking that every day is April 1st.

How have we still got a football club with Blake and Hughes at the controls?

Can anyone remember in the dim and distant past when Les Ferdinand was interviewed to be our manager? We pulled out when he gave the terms he wanted + back room staff. We got slated in the press over it as a black manager issue? You'd have to think Terry Henry knows the money involved?

Sometimes players appear to have agreed personal terms with a new club before a transfer bid has been formally made, this must be done so that the buying club can have everything tied up quickly once a fee is agreed. No point wasting time over a transfer fee if the player is never going to be interested, that sort of thing...you’d imagine...

I’m sure unofficially this could happen with managers as well, but as it’s not strictly following proper processes those clubs involved would try to keep these things on the quiet.

This could, hypothetically speaking of course, lead to local journalists posting on Twitter that the club has spoken to a manager only to delete the tweet and quickly alter it to say that they would like to speak to him, just as one example in a hypothetical world of course.

I wonder where abouts Monsieur Henry is in the world currently? He will surely struggle to take up the role straight away in these current times, assuming he is currently in Canada or elsewhere. I wonder if that gives Woodgate another game or two after QPR.

As this is football...any covid/ lockdown/travel issues are irrelevant surely

As a French citizen post Brexit there are employment and visa hurdles to overcome.

He's not going to score well on the points scheme is he.

"Can the job you are qualified to do be done by a UK citizen?"

Judging by the mile long list of managers with a proper cv looking for a job.

Yes it can.
