Preston v AFC Bournemouth

Or play Lewis in his best position
You think Lewis is a more effective defensive midfielder than Jeff?......JT messing around with Jeff position to accommodate Lewis Cook is one of the reasons we find ourselves scrapping for 6th rather than top 2.......Woodgate has at least seen sense on that situation.

He should go 442. If we want play offs we need to go on a winning run given the form of the sides around us. I just don’t think we have enough threat with our blend of midfielders to play a three, we have many talented midfielders but they offer very little attacking threat between them. He needs to be brave and drop Lewis Cook as it’s what is best for the team now.
I think Preston are going to sit very deep tbh which as we've seen in the past makes our 442 look a bit static.....i'd definitely consider it against Barnsley though......the game against them earlier in the season is one that you can't argue that JT got spot on....played two strikers albeit with a back three....we kept playing balls down the channels to them in order to beat the insane Barnsley press.....literally took out the entire Barnsley team.

I saw him as the highest midfielder of the three vs Watford. If you are going to be condescending at least get your facts right.

Tbf he was just answering the question “what do you think is his best position”. If you both weren’t jabbing at each other I think you’d fine that you actually agree :grinning:

If either of them had read my post they'd see that it isn't a question worth answering!

Yes I misread what he said. But you don’t play L Cook ahead of Pearson in DM, ever.

North End are not ' on the beach' yet, but might be gathering up the buckets and spades ready ! They'll end up mid- table ish.

We should be able to make our 'desire' count. I'm counting on that.

This is a Big ' Un....in the oldest surviving proper football ground...Deepdale....
There are bits of film on u-tube of teams winning there over 100 years ago against the famous Proud Preston.

The Famous Cherries 2021...Bournemouth strutting, swaggering to 3 points today...Pride of the South!

That'll do from a mid- morning Coffee lift!

Off up the Co-Op now for a few bottles of Punk IPA ( haven't tried them before)...and a few of my fav 'Beheaded' Cornish red ale!

Hahaha. That will be something for us to look forward to Brian.

I hope there is enough incentive for the team not to allow Preston to do the double on us.

I’m sure Ben will be anxious to put on a good performance too.

I would love a fast start to blitz Preston from the off like we used to do in the good old EH days.

Hopefully a first 20 minutes like we had against Bristol, but with an early goal to force Preston to play more.

UTCIAD.

If you watched the match in midweek and didn't realise Lewis was being played out of position then there is really no point arguing over who should play today.
Yes it's unfortunate for Lewis that he has players like Lerma and Pearson in his favoured position......if he can't play 'out of position' as Jeff had to under JT then he might just have to fill in for one of them if they need a rest .....there's still a quarter of the season left.

Don't mind seeing Lerma play the advanced role with Pearson and Cook behind, also no reason Cook can't play higher up. Why not rotate with Lerma through the game. Keep opposition guessing.

Think the reason Cook is being moved higher, is that we seem to be passing out from the back less. I like that, but it does risk bypassing Cook's range of passing.

Prediction: it will be an uneventful game maybe separated by the odd goal. We will only start to look a threat when we go 442.

I get that people are pleased with a consistent line up but let’s not let it conceal the fact that the same line up has been making hard work of the games. So hopefully another consistent 3 points but a better, more comfortable, showing would be welcome.
