Non - Brexit

How come your running commentary on UK/EU trade didn't appear on here in November and December when they were up due to due to stockpiling (which partially explains the large fall in January)?
There were plenty of others doing that commentary on my behalf. Strangely, they're all very quiet now.

Trade experts have ridiculed the minister who negotiated the Brexit deal, after he denied it was responsible for a devastating collapse in exports.
Goods sales to the EU plunged by 40.7 per cent in January – and imports slumped by 28.8 per cent – the largest declines since comparable records began in 1997.

Significantly, there were no similar falls in Britain’s trade with non-EU countries, apparently firm evidence that a mountain of new red tape since Brexit was completed is to blame.

David Frost, picked by Boris Johnson to negotiate the Christmas Eve agreement, pointed to pre-Christmas “stockpiling” and “Covid lockdowns across Europe” as explanations for the slump.

Anton Spisak, a former Foreign Office policy adviser – pointing to an 83 per cent plunge in fish exports to the EU – taunted Lord Frost, saying “Somewhat difficult to stockpile fish, I think.”

Call it ‘middle class problems’ but my German rye bread has been a victim. None on the shelves for weeks now. It’s been a part of my daily diet for years now. May not seen significant, but the Tory tax evasion plan is now affecting me in annoying ways. Can’t get any similar made here.

Yeah the missus wants to. One issue. No rye flour either. Grrr.

There's no problem getting Rye flour?

What was a problem, last year, was the harvest was badly affected by the weather. A very wet February and March, followed by a very dry Spring and early Summer, saw all manner of problems, not least for beekeepers (I had a woeful crop of honey) and my mate who runs Orchard Bay Bakery, saw his flour prices increase three times, during 2020.

He makes Rye bread every week.
