Non - Winter Shortages

Government state the shortage is caused by business failing to plan ahead for the benefits of brexit.

Government solution is then to appoint a former top business executive to advise on how to plan to ease the shortage.

If carlsberg did fooling ebough of the people enough of the time.......

Yeah we get it. Everyone other than you and Nina is a fool... And something about COBRA.

COBRA have failed to deliver any solutions is a lesson learned surely.

Why you constantly bring up COBRA as if it's some kind of entity that exists independently of government is a lesson I've definitely not learned. Presumably it's the actual briefing rooms you don't like.

Crossed wires in the cabinet...

Mr Kwarteng, who met leaders from heavy industry on Friday, said he was not going to commit to "any firm figure or subsidy" for companies.
Asked about whether the government would ensure factories would not have to close if they could not pay for gas he said it was a commercial decision and "up to them".
He added: "We are not in the business of bail-outs.
Energy prices: No commitment from Kwarteng on business gas help - BBC News

On Sunday, Mr Kwarteng told the BBC's Andrew Marr programme the situation was "critical" and said he was "looking to find a solution".
"We already have existing support and we're looking to see whether that's sufficient to get us through this situation," he said.
However, a Treasury source said the business secretary had been "mistaken" to say that he had been working on possible support measures with the Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Over here in Dubai, McDonalds ice creams have gone from 1 AED (20p) to 2 AED (40p). Feeling the full effects of inflation here as well.

On a serious note, our petrol has gone up 14% in 5 months. Year on year it's gone up just over 38%. Inflation is not just a UK issue.

Love this comment in todays Guardian about the Insulate Britain protesters:

"One HGV driver said: “These lot, they don’t see the harshness of the reality. Why don’t they do something about racism? If they’re cold at home, just put on a jumper.” He said the protests were stopping him from doing the work he needed to feed his family".

20 years ago lorry drivers were blocking roads protesting at the price of fuel. Yet, today?

I guess lockdown/brexit has given us something else to worry about more...

Plus imagine we'll see this more as 'soft' push made to force people away from ICE vehicles.

Yes. Expect to see an increase in fuel duty in the forseeable in order to enable a 'hostile environment' for drivers.
