Makes sense to pause whilst the winter spike continues….we may be in a sneakily enforced lockedown being phased in by the spineless Bojo anyway… presently he is scared as he and his cronies have been caught abusing the previous lockdowns
 
Its utterley ridiculous that Welsh clubs ban fans and the same fans are able cross the border to an away game and transfer Covid both ways...thus highlighting the stupidity of three separate parts the same Island land mass having different rules !
 
The silver lining of Boris being a dithering coward is that he can now do whatever Wales and Scotland do but a bit more and act all superior rather than the reverse.

Or looked at the other way, he can continue to wait for the real world figures that show doom and gloom and disaster, and if they don't come, not introduce any new restrictions at all. and perhaps remove the existing ones.

Before we continue to panic about how high the numbers of omicron cases are getting, could we please have an explanation of why they don't appear to be getting any higher?

Possibly because the population of the UK, who have been partying like it's 1999 for the past month or so, have finally woken up to the stark fact that it's not all over?

I for one am now at home with a tinfoil hat on. refusing to answer the door.

So what’s happened to all the Nightingale pop up hospitals?… IF government had invested in the NHS then we could cope with this pandemic that is not going away anytime soon… Sunak has spend billions bailing out businesses is the NHS not a more important business?

It makes you wonder who has actually got their hands on the steering wheel after recent revelations and the business that caused the recent by-election.

We're seeing new record level infections almost daily. You can use emotive language like panic but you here's the data leading up 3 days ago. It's now 100,000.

How can you look at that data with a rational mind and tell me we've peaked?

How can you look at that and think removing restrictions is in any way a sane action?

The point, over here at least, is "Cases Up ...... Serious Illness Not So Much".

If Omicron is racing around the world, so is political stupidity.

We finally had a health expert suggest that "the health system going to crash" is more likely " we may have to once again postpone elective surgery". Which isn't a good thing but a far cry from "bring out your dead".

There is one element of "the system" .... probably the most important part ..... that is under serious duress, and that is the care workers. Some reports are that we have plenty of booster vaccines, but it's getting harder to find people to administer them.
