Non - Boris Johnson

No, they shouldn't be allowed to do that. Once an MP chooses not to be a party member and switch parties, or go Independent (or vice versa), then that should trigger a bi-election for that seat.
I've always said the same. Sadly same happens in councils, we've seen it in Bournemouth a few years ago

It is very rare indeed that I feel any notion of "liking" or whatever you may call it for MPs. Usually, you can easily tell that they are in it for their own self-enhancement, so to speak, and often, perhaps due to their privileged backgrounds, feel very little "connect" with any of them. However, this morning, I've heard Steve Baker speaking about the ongoing situation, and his possibility of standing for leader of the Tory party. I thought he came across as a thoroughly grounded decent chap who could clearly bridge the divide between the "haves" and the "have nots". Not your typical Tory toff in any way, shape or form.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH *breath* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Edited to add.....the climate change denying brxiteer champion is quite possibly the worst candidate mentioned so far. Only Rees Mogg throwing his top hat and monocle in would make a worse option.

No, I read what that gut says and think he is an absolute clown. You don't?

Yeah, he spoke the truth against Boris's lies while the buffoon talked about unfair EU and oven ready deals. Simply because he didn't lie like Boris you didn't like him. So by definition you believed the boll0cks that Johnson spouted on a daily basis.

I don't know about Baker but I agree with your first point. When you see the fanaticism in America, whether it's Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush, whoever I can't wrap my head around it. To have huge events where people worship politicians like rock stars, as if they aren't all in it for themselves, is mind-blowing.

Fair enough! I know absolutely nothing about Steve Baker, but this was my first impression of him. You clearly know much more concerning what's gone on in the past.

No offense to you personally but this is scary. Baker is about as extreme as they come in British politics. He is literally a climate denier.

I think he's a clown therefore 'by definition' I agree with Boris Johnson? What sort of crackpot logic is that?

I think he's a clown because he says stuff like this..

The world order of tomorrow is not a world order based on nation states or countries. It’s a world order that is based on empires.

China is not a nation; it’s a civilization.

India, you know it better than I do, is not a nation. There are 2,000 nations in India. There are 20 different languages that are used there. There are four big religions at the same time, and its 2011 census recorded five regions with more than five million inhabitants. It is the biggest democracy worldwide.

The U.S. is also an empire, more than a nation. Maybe tomorrow they will speak more Spanish than English; I don’t know what will happen.

And then finally, the Russian Federation.

The world of tomorrow is a world of empires, in which we Europeans and you British can only defend your interests, your way of life, by doing it together in a European framework and a European Union.

I fundamentally disagree with his push for a European Empire and a forced common European Identity. Europe's strength is it's diversity and trying to force a common identity is a recipe for disaster. They have tried to do this on a smaller scale in Europe previously and it does not work.

I think he got a pull-out chart of what glib labels you can use for any Tory leadership hopeful from his copy of the i.

I'm really torn on Boris' successor. On one hand we need someone competent to get us through a very tough period (like him or not I think Gove is probably the best bet). On the other Truss or Braverman are thick as two short planks and would almost certainly lead to the whole lot being chucked out in a couple of year.

I think he meant that Putin's aim was to destabilise and weaken the UK and it appears he has achieved that. That's how I read it anyway.

Basically the Ukraine and their leader have lost one of their best supporters in BJ.

There was talk/rumours that Putin might have been replaced in Russia, instead our own PM is going instead and the chaos surrounding it.
