Premier League 22/23

Strange how you get a season every now and again that completely goes against the grain, e.g. the season Leicester won.
Arsenal looking unstoppable, Newcastle knocking at the door and Liverpool and Man City not anywhere near where they would hope to be.

only half way point I Guess

Pretty typical, mid-way through the season and there is a line being clearly drawn between top 10 and other 10, with a couple comfortably in the mushy-middle.

The race to stay up will be a ride, for sure. Eight teams right now on 1 PPG or fewer.

Liverpool much better 2nd half
Klopp complaining about Brentford and their tactics.,

Is that just because they caused all sorts of problems from set plays as all teams want or try to do .

And the 3rd goal was allowed despite in his eyes there being a push on the Liverpool defender (bad enough for it to be a foul )

Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas:

"With the transfer window open and another momentous result against a top-six side last night, it’s a good time to look more closely at Brentford’s recruitment;

"Last night’s first eleven – built by director of football Phil Giles and technical director Lee Dykes – cost the Bees a grand total of £28m. Liverpool’s first XI last night cost them more than £417m.

"Last night, Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher said a top new midfielder will cost Liverpool £50m.

"Vitaly Janelt cost Brentford £500,000 while Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister cost Brighton around £5m each.

"It poses the question; do clubs need better players or better recruitment?

"Brentford’s technical director Dykes is emerging as one the game’s best talent spotters and, coupled with director of football Giles, they are steadily establishing Brentford as a competitive Premier League side on the division’s smallest budget."

The similarities and connections between the clubs are actually quite striking - no love lost there either. The two owners are almost the perfect football club owners as the data precesses they have developed to make their fortunes provide an unrivalled insight into the quality of players across many leagues almost as a byproduct. Very much a moneyball type approach.

Interestingly they both have European sister clubs.

Tonight we go to a club where , like us, indvidual players turn it on when 'they feel like it'...ok most of them are a few notches up in class ...and one such, Martial, will look at us and think.." yup this is right up my street"...I can destroy dem Muppets"

Best if our lot just arrive there shortly before kick -off..not hours before whereupon they wander about starstruck in awe of the hype and huffpuff sh*te that abounds around that place, developing an inferiority complex...buying and filling up the coach with Rashford and Fred shirts and other Wally memorabilia !...
Then into the stadium....Pele , Knees, dead Pope and boomps a daisy...knick knack paddyywhack three points down the swanny...
Back on the coach..or maybe it's a aeroplane now .. sat there staring to the front like zombies and wondering wher't all went wrong....as they travel back to Tennis Town..
