James Hill

"He has been a revelation since arriving at Hearts in January, with five wins and three clean sheets to his credit in his first six appearances.

He seems like a very down to earth lad."

Comment from a Hearts fan. Good to know.
Good to know indeed. I hope the loan is worth it for him, by which I mean I hope he has the opportunity to progress with us.

No idea what this is about other than what he’s written. Surprised to read he’s getting grief as I had thought he was doing well up there.

Many of them seem to think he's been really poor after the first two ganes, whilst a few are putting that down to their manager/coach

I'm always amazed at how unrealistic/stupid some football fans can be when it comes to young players. He's just turned 21. Like all players of that age, he will be inconsistent - that's just the way it is. As long as he's giving 100% then that's all you can reasonably ask of him.

Gratifying to know we're still tinpot north of the border.

Reassuring, after the amount of time we've spent in the top flight over the past decade, was starting to worry that football fans in other countries, may see us as the equivalent to Guardiola's Barcelona.

Even funnier that he references being at a club that demands success.

Someone needs to remind them the Scottish PL now comprises of two teams who are the equivalent quality of modern Middlesborough and Blackburn, with the rest made up of similar to Rotherham, Wigan, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Tranmere and Crawley... (but with smaller budgets).

Ah, what it must mean to be part of a club that demands success like them compared to tinpot us...

Basically some of the fans of these 'historical giants' north of the border have the same issue as the big clubs in the Championship, getting their head around the fact a historically smaller club than them is now simply doing better and very likely will be for a long long time to come. Scottish leagues a joke now, but hey, gives a chance for our youngsters to get some experience at a lower level first.

Funny how massive Scottish football clubs reckon they are. If they were in England they'd have won fuckall and been bobbing around the lower leagues for decades just like AFCB. The population of the Edinburgh conurbation is barely 20k more than BCP and they've got two tinpot clubs to our one.

As soon as big Bill F builds a new ground we'll easily eclipse their attendances.

Tinpot...
A term used to describe something that is either of low quality, has a poor reputation or is unknown altogether, has an insignificant history or any combination of the aforementioned. The term is often used to describe English football (that's soccer to our Yankee & Aussie friends) clubs that occupy the lower reaches of the English footballing pyramid. These clubs are characterised by;

a) Terrible quality of football, often of amateur and semi-professional standards and occasionally even pub side quality

b) Very small fanbases resulting in low attendance figures and small travelling crowds (away support in football parlance)

c) Diminutive and often run-down stadiums with poor amenities (portable toilets in place of functioning bathrooms), minimal seating and cover, often resulting in spectators being exposed to the harsh conditions of the English weather

d) A baren trophy cabinet, or if they are lucky, a handful of local cups on a shelf that nobody outside of the club has heard of

e) A shocking bank balance as the clubs just about manage to pay the bills. However, in recent years more often than not the clubs end up in administration

f) Having to go back to 1927 to find an occassion or person that would be deemed to be notweorthy in the world of English football. Often, upon coming across a fan of a more reputable club, they will eagerly tell said fan of their grand days of the 1927/28 season in an attempt to make their club seem relevant

''Last Tuesday night we was away to tinpot Bristol Rovers and as usual we was confined to the open terraces of the East Stand, exposed to the pissing rain and lashing winds. It was grim as ****************, made only worse by the excuse of a football game we witnessed along with 3,000 other miserable fans.'' - said the fan of equally tinpot Southend United to his mate.

''I couldn't believe Accrington Stanley. The tinpot shites brought all of 28 fans to the match last night.'' - said an enraged fan of tinpot Gillingham.

:Fingers:

Interesting to see this sort of comment on their site.

"Why did he even go up to the fans ?

After a result and performance like that an acknowledgement from the middle of the field is all that's necessary."

Just goes to prove that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't in these situations. Not walking over and acknowledging the fans has been criticised by fans too. The moral of the story is don't lose.

Have to be honest, I’m not too surprised to see him getting negative reviews based on what I saw in pre season, he looked out of his depth. I remember Bevan coming on for him in the Real Sociadad game and instantly looking more assured and comfortable in his surroundings. We have a very promising up and coming young centre half I think, and it’s not James Hill.

With players like Hill you are gambling on their potential.

Not the first time, there was the winger from Blackburn (forget his name) and the American lad we had ,neither really made it but that's football, sometimes they develop into something ,sometimes not.

Any time I read a post from you starting "I've got to be honest" I know that it's going to involve some new angle you've thought of that effectively boils down to "this club is sh*t".

Explain to me, how does saying that I don’t think that Hill is a good prospect but I think that Owen Bevan is, equate to me saying ‘the club is ****************.’ The answer is that it clearly doesn’t and you again showing your inability to play the post and not the poster.
